Cafe Botteltje - Oostende

I visited this place twice during my trip to Oostende. It's very nice, located on a quiet street with a seating area outiside. On the first visit the bar staff was really helpful and recommended a few great beers to try, as they have a great selection of bottled beers. On the second visit the experience wasn't so great, a different waiter didn't allow me to have a look at what's available in the fridge to try something new, he didn't even inquire about what I was looking for which I believe is his duty when working in a place that offers such a broad range of different beers from little breweries around Belgium. (I then saw him bring a few bottles to show his collegue sitting at a different table to us.. . But I will still rate this place 5 stars because the initial experience was great and the staff on my first visit were super polite and helpful :

The bar is OK. Definitely overpriced, but most of these bars with a large number of beers are. They only give out tap water for medical reasons and blablabla . This is the reason for my negative review. This mentality has to change. If I am a paying customer and order multiple (already overpriced) beer, I should be served a glass of tap water at no additional cost. Unbelievably backwards.

Lovely place with great staff and service. We were just for coffee but was welcomed as much as for lunch. Absolutely delicious egg liquor with coffee was served

Great pub with a full range of Belgian beers. Great atmosphere with knowledgeable and efficient staff. Very friendly and welcoming. A must when visiting Oostende and a chance to mop up some local colour! Good range of meals as well good helpings

A special place for special people who like to drink beer out of all kind of glasses. People who haven't found their one drink yet, adventurous people with a taste for danger. The food is really nice as well, and you should eat, there has to be a base for all the beer you will drink. I pity the person that has to clean all the glasses.
