The food is good enough. Evening course takes about 2 hous, its better to consider.
Gourmet dining in Ostend. Make sure to try the fish soup!
Enjoyed our lunch in le chevalier, excellent service!
This fish restaurant was recommended to me by Sofie, the receptionist at my hotel, the Andromeda [separate review]. Wow. I mean, wow. The oysters were Irish. First time for me, and they were exquisite. Small critique...I don't like being limited to 1 champagne containing Pinot Meunier, yes together with the other 2. But I've never appreciated it, like other friends do. Anyway, I went for the Boulabalaise as I had a hankering it was their speciality. I hit the jackpot. Fantastic! The rouille and its recipe for me is the key. Chef patron Willie's closely guarded secret, naturally. But his daughter and resto manager thinks there's more to it. From talking to her, you get to understand this is truly a family affair. The detail they go into was an eye opener for me. All dishes were supplemented by some lovely bread butter initially and with the main, which my excellent waiter dished out the first serving as tradition requires here on the Flemish coast. This came with a side dish of toast with a generous serving of homemade cocktail sauce and grated cheese for the B! Honestly, one of the best fish meals ever. To top it all, I met a rock star local legend on the same evening. I spent part of my meal watching some of his videos. Again, another wow! What a **** evening this has been. Made up nicely for the site one I had before. Look out for my comments about a visit Sarurday night to a local haunt here in the centre of Ostend.
