Foodies - Omaha

Basically I was served a less than Arby's grade French dip sandwich with hyvee corn chips and hyvee salsa for twice the price I would pay for if I was a more well informed foodie which was ok I guess. The only problem is that it took twice the time to go to Arby's and then to drive to Hyvee to get the corn chips. Also, asking for a tip with a fancy ipad cash register before receiving service was tackier than idiocy. Should rename the place idiocies.

Always a wonderful experience. A Lunch date Landmark. Very open spaced casual dining room with self service drinks, order at the counter set up. Beautiful paintings and flowers, real Omaha pride. The food is diverse, comforting, and prepared according to detail. Have yet to try ANYTHING here yet which I did not love!!! The club sandwich is a monster and delicious

This is going to be a new go - to for me. I stopped by today for lunch after seeing the write up in the World Herald. The restaurant is clean and inviting and the staff is friendly. They don't have a printed menu, which kind of annoys me. You stare at a wall and try and figure out what you want. I ordered the Cuban. I love Cuban sandwiches. Came with a side, of which I choose a house salad. $9.70 for full sandwich and side. The food took about average time to arrive. Took a bite of the salad. No dressing. Went up to counter and asked if there was supposed to be dressing on side salad. She gave me a side of pink stuff in a cup. That was the best tasting pink stuff EVER. The sandwich was just alright - the pork wasn't very flavorful, and using provolone on a Cuban is a sin. Get some swiss, people! But it was the little side salad that could which saved the day. Now give me a gallon of that pink stuff!

Decent, fast, reasonably priced, Reuben was acceptable but could be so much better! How: boars head meat, not the cheaper one used, not really grilled! Put butter on the bread & grill it covered & longer. I'm a Reuben snob, it's so average.

Updated Review. We stopped here with about a dozen friends for a midweek dinner. The food ranged from very good (French Onion Soup) to pretty good (French Dip sandwich) to just okay (Thai chicken pizza). Service was fairly prompt.. The menu and food quality is similar to Panera and Ingredient. -----27 Apr, 2012----- Nice atmosphere. Unremarkable food. Disorganized kitchen.. A friend selected this place for lunch. It is quite airy and attractive looking, with one large dining room. You order at the counter, they give you a number and bring the food out to your table. Prices fall into the $10 range with a drink. The place was bustling with a predominantly female crowd. So far, so good. A few minutes after getting our sodas and finding a booth an employee came to us and advised that they could not serve either of us our sandwiches because "the pork was not ready". It was exactly 12 Noon. We were asked to order something else, and less expensive offerings were suggested. I indicated I would find a substitute sandwich for the Cuban panini I had ordered. My lunch partner downsized to some $6.95 "street tacos". (no refund for the price difference was offered!) My chipotle turkey substitute sandwich was meager in size, but tasty. The side of fruit was equally meager but tasted fine. My friend disliked his tacos, indicating at they were soggy. He had been to Foodies before and liked it, and thought I would, too. He told me he was embarrassed he had suggested going there, considering our disappointing meals. My question. Actually two. How does an established restaurant run out of one of the main ingredients for its meals before Noon? And why did Foodies not offer to refund us the price difference for the meals we were stuck eating because the two items we pre paid for suddenly weren't available? I really enjoyed the look of this place. And their menu is sure to please just about everyone. But a disorganized kitchen and meager portion sizes will keep me from heading back anytime soon.
