Contribuiți la feedbackFriday night and it's $2 tecate in a frosty mug, ahhh it's so magical !! lots of daily specials now courtesy of the New owners who just happen to work here daily and oversee everything! they will take care of you!! if you crave some heat, try the habanero salsa, it's tasty : had my usual The Hugo crispy taco,w/no lettuce, pork tamale,cheese enchilada with double rice this dish is customized to your liking jill had her crispy beef tacos w/ no tomato of course they make a pretty solid margarita hence the name if your craving something besides beer ..another great visit
This is small restaurant with friendly staff and we enjoy eating at locally owned greeted promptly within entering. Chips, salsa and cheese sauce came out quickly to our table. Chips were as norm, as well as the salsa, cheese dip was watery. Our food came out within a timely fashion and was hot. I had the cheese enchilada dinner with rice charro beans. Enchiladas were as expected but didn't care for the chili sauce, beans could've had some salt cooked with it, rice was tender but could've used some seasoning like cumin or cayenne. Wife had the steak street tacos, meat was tender and flavored well so we shared hers. Doubt I would return but each their own.
Had a decent lunch at Margaritas on a Thursday afternoon, but certainly nothing memorable. I walked in around 12:20 and there were a couple of tables seated. A server brought me a menu and took my drink order very soon after I arrived. He returned with my water and salsa/cheese sauce and some chips. He was very friendly and I did not have to wait long for a water refill or the check. No issues with the service. The salsa is a bit on the light side, I know you can't make the gratis salsa too hot because you need to cater to all tastes, but I think a hint of jalapeno wouldn't have been a big deal. The cheese sauce was likewise bland, but mixed together they were pretty good. The chips are pretty standard and were served room temperature. I have certainly had worse, but this was not among the best salsa/cheese sauce combos I've had before at Oklahoma tex mex joints. To eat, I went with the fajita chicken quesadilla, which is served with pico, sour cream, and guac on the side. The food came out after about 10 minutes. This is as basic as a quesadilla can get: chicken, cheese, and a few minutes on the flat top. It was decent but the ingredient distribution was way off. The middle 2 pieces had 75% of the chicken, so the outer pieces were basically cheese and tortilla (or just tortilla). And, the tortillas tasted store bought, I would be surprised if they were made in house. While I did not hate this meal I would not order it again. I see many reviews that sing the praises of Margaritas, so perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. If I am in the neighborhood I would give it another shot, but I likely would not seek it out specifically.
Friendly staff in this family-owned restaurant! (I've never had sullen service here. Not once. I'm not a massive Tex-Mex fan in general, no, so don't expect me to rave about the food. (Contrary to what one reviewer said, this IS Tex-Mex for the most part, so let's not fool ourselves. I've had the shrimp cocktail here, though, and it was OUTSTANDING. I come here mostly to meet Nichols Hills clients, as it's very easy to find AND close to the heart of Nichols Hills. The place is clean, well lighted, and (again easy to find. I usually end up ordering a couple of margaritas for the clients I meet here, and they (the margaritas are nothing if not solid. (I mean, the place is named after the drinks, isn't it? I'd expect the margaritas to be good. It's a little expensive as Tex-Mex joints go, but it IS in a high rent district.
Man i miss the good old days across the street. Abel, Junior, we miss u. finally tried under the new ownership. i hate to say it because the gentleman owner is quite nice, but this place will not last. we decided to cut our losses and left during our stale chips and thimble sized salsa. we should have known earlier as there were 4-5 tables none had any food. it was friday nite and the owner was the only waiter. judging by how slow everything was, i assumed he was cooking it too. Oddly his mgmt office is a cluttered table in the dining area. ??? won't be back until it changes again.
