Contribuiți la feedbackThis place is special! The menu is small, creative and delicious. The atmosphere is quaint and quiet. Wonderful for a Saturday morning breakfast. It has a real summer resort feel to it. The staff are incredibly friendly. We would go every weekend if we could. The bathrooms are on the other side of the restaurant in the public park. (Those are sketchy).
I visit the Okanagan a few times each summer to reconnect with my fan-base...lots of Believers in this neck of the woods which makes me feel rather 'seen ' and all that visibility makes me feel rather peckish and all that peckishness leads me to the OK Patio Café, ok?! On my latest visit, I selected a croissant to start and two meals to finish NO DRINKS as I do not enjoy liquids . I made sure to pronounce it kroy-sent to introduce some light aggravation to my order and then doubled-down on my own antagonism by selecting from both the breakfast and lunch menus. To my dismay, this seemed to have no effect on the staff. The two individuals behind the counter fulfilled my request with service banter I can only describe as friendly yet piquante. And I do enjoy a little spice. Casting aside the cumbersome umbrellas on the patio, I seated myself in full sun and got down to business. I bit into my croissant and worried for a moment that I 'd gone to heaven. The exterior was crisped to perfection; the interior, a soft and buttery cloud. While I 'm generally one to swallow food whole, like a snake, even I had to slow down and savour each bite. I would recommend it to anyone who likes The Best of something. Which I do. My appreciation for the pastry was cut short by a voice summoning me. Damian! Order for Damian! it called. And I answered. Not in words. But in actions. By rising like smoke from a flame to retrieve my meals: the Monte Cristo Sandwich and the Turkish Breakfast. Let me start with the former and then end with the latter: The Monte Cristo promised to come honeyed, battered and grilled, which is exactly how I like my Counts. It did not disappoint. And no, I haven 't read the book either The Turkish Breakfast was a highlight, with its poached egg floating in a delectable chilli flake butter sauce that packed just the right amount of heat. Both meals came piping hot a MUST for me! , but perhaps the hottest dish of all was the Chef himself, zipping around the tiny kitchen, whipping himself into stiff peaks of activity. I made sure to sustain an unbroken smouldering stare through his little viewing window as a way of thanks. All in all, the experience was quite pleasurable. But not perfect. My sole complaint would be the location. It is too close to water, which is too wet.
Everything was ok, nothing to rave about and there is no lake view and no washrooms at all!?! Yes, you read that right...very weird. You have to go to an outhouse in a field. Not a fan of this experience. Personally, I would go down the street to the other café. The food at the Salty Caramel is awesome and there's a little ice cream hut right beside it and yes, there's a washroom in the café as you would expect.
Love this place! The owners are so friendly and welcoming! Lake views on front, and park views in the back of the patio Food is excellent and rotates often to reduce food waste and to use local, seasonal ingredients! The pulled bbq chicken sandwich is the best and the desserts and pastries are to die for. OH and they have vegan and gluten-free options for no extra cost!!
The outdoor patio at this restaurant offers a beautiful setting to enjoy excellent food. The service is outstanding and we have had delicious breakfast and lunch here multiple times. We will definitely be returning!
