Don't bother with this one, they need more staff training with customer handling.
Across from the Oakville GO station is a real gem if you like Korean food. Great place for lunch , busy but I have always been able to get a table. Extensive menu of Korean dishes with excellent stir fry , rice fishes and noodle soup . Also try Bib im Bop , with carmelized rice . Of course Bulgogi and Kalbi. All meals come with five appetizers, including kimchi to wake up the taste buds . Excellent value and quick friendly service !!
This Korean restaurant is a solid 4 stars. This location is far better than the one in Mississauga. Before you head out there, you need to know a couple of things first.Walking in, you won’t be amazed by the décor or the furniture by any means. It is a very casual seating area with a combination of both bench/tables on the sides and chairs/tables in the middle. The benches are scratched, the walls need repainting, and all the tv screens are showing nothing but boy or girl band K-pop music videos. There is a large menu up on their wall near the cashier but once you are seated you are given floppy flip-through menus that has a small description beside each item. Sometimes they provide you with a small pen and paper to write your order down or they might take your order verbally.A lot of local families eat here so it is very family friendly. A lot of skill trade workers eat here and that is a very good sign. They tend to know where all the good places to eat at cheaper prices. It can get super busy so do your best to let your server know if you need something. The food – It is by far the best tasting Korean food you will ever find in the GTA (and for the price!). They offer a number of well-known Korean food, both soup and rice dishes combined. I highly recommend the “Soon Tofu Seafood Soup”, “Seafood Pancake”, “Kalbi” (marinated beef short ribs) or the all famous “Kam Ja Tang” (Pork Bone Soup). All are extremely tasty and well-seasoned. You will notice that I haven’t uploaded any pictures of the restaurant and that’s only because I walk straight to my seat and order my food. I have uploaded a short video of their Soon Tofu Seafood Soup into my blog just to show how appetizing it is.The service – Service is fairly quick. They usually bring out your free hot/cold corn tea and free appetizers around 5 minutes after you order. About 10-15 minutes later, the rest of the order arrives. The reason why they lost a star in rating is because one time the restaurant was packed and as I was ready to pay by credit card for my family of 4, the server had already added a 15% tip on the credit machine without me knowing. I was a little annoyed by that and swore that I will only pay by cash from now. Besides, if your bill comes out less than $50, then they will only accept cash. They have an ATM in their lobby, but I’m not sure what the fees are or if it is functioning for that matter. For more food reviews and blogging, check out my blog listed in my profile.
Very busy little place. Huge variety of dishes of the Asian type. We had a couple stir frys which were very greasy and not that good. We couldn't eat either of them. The staff were pleasant and the place looked clean.
For a while now, I have been wanting to visit this restaurant and try their dish. So one Friday, my family and I finally got to go. My family and I are not Korean, but I am of Asian descent. We were seated right away, but we noticed that the staff/servers were out of breath and really rushing up and down the aisles. They were pushing their carts as if they were being timed. My husband and I didn't like this feeling because we felt rushed, however we put in our order and the server was friendly enough. She only came back once and when she did she was rushing to leave again (she looked like she was about to run away). Our orders took half an hour to come - all that rushing and the food was slow to arrive, but we spent our time reading the menu and people watching because our kids thought it was fun to compare this restaurant to other Korean restaurants we have eaten. The food was fine and tasted ok but don't bother ordering the chicken soup (my youngest had it)- it tasted like paper and uncooked flour! It was terrible and the broth did not taste good at all. I almost wanted to return it, but I didn't want to bother the very busy server. So wait, our experience gets " better." When it was time to pay I went to the cashier (who by the way,was yelling for the duration of the time that we were there- I later found out her name). She was yelling at the kitchen staff - it was so loud that you could hear her all the way to the dining area. My husband stopped me from paying with cash and stated that he'd rather pay with interact so he got in line while my family and I stood behind him. I told him that I would then leave the TIP on the table since I had cash on hand. When he paid and the transaction went through, the same cashier who kept yelling ripped off the receipt from the machine and looked at it and then her eyebrows raised up and said angrily to my husband: " You don't like service? You don't like food here?" My husband said: "What? Yes I did, we did. Our first time here. Food was ok." She then said: "You don't like place? Service was bad?" This time, I moved closer as she looked angrier and sounded agitated. Her face was so mad. I knew she was getting at something, but I was unsure. My husband then gave her a thumbs up and was very friendly with her and stated that everything was fine- he was so confused at this time. She then finally said: very loudly "You don't like it because you don't leave tip!!!" My husband calmly told her, that we were leaving a tip on the dining table and that this wasn't the case at all. This is when I stepped in and I asked my husband to take the kids to the car because they looked scared at this point. I told this crazy and irate staff that she had no right to speak to anyone in this manner. I explained to her what I was going to do and that I was the one leaving the tip and I was waiting for the copy of the receipt so I could decide how much to leave. I also raised my voice at her and told her what I thought of her. I told her that next time she treats anyone in this manner, it wouldn't be a good scenario for her because the next customer will not be as nice and calm as my husband. I told her that she was rude and nasty and very unprofessional. I demanded that she apologize to my husband and our young children because her behaviour was uncalled for. I asked her if she felt that she could talk to my husband in this manner because he's not Asian or white. I told her that she was messing with the wrong Asian woman and if she thought she could get away with treating people in this manner, she had another thing coming. She ran and apologized to my husband and came back to me (I later found out that her apologies were quick and she said that "your wife is mad at me!"). I told her that I was planning on leaving a tip but because she was so unprofessional and rude, the only tip she was going to get from me was to treat people nicely and to be respectful! I am sorry even took my family to this restaurant. When we got home, I immediately went on the company's site and wrote an email about this incident- this incident occurred 2 weeks ago and nobody has responded to me and that's why I'm now on TripAdvisor. This staff needs retraining esp. this one here because all she did was scream at the kitchen staff and the servers- she told me her name but I could only spell it this way- "U-gooli." I guess the company doesn't care about how their staff treats people and couldn't be bothered responding.
