Wonder Food Bakery - Oakland

Wonder Food Bakery has the best pineapple buns! I also love their sponge cakes and eggs tarts. Get there nice and early to get the goodies fresh off the oven. Also, my dad always makes a special request for their cookies (aka little chicken cookies incanto) because there?s no equivalent in San Diego.

I have been coming here ever since I was a kid, so around 15 years. Quality and price are very consistent. Only thing to watch out for is customer service. They can be rude at times but the food is great and the price is good.

The bread here is really good and reasonably priced. However, I had a frustrating experience because I was speaking Mandarin instead of Cantonese and I also appeared younger. I bought three breads and two egg tarts and gave the cashier a $20 bill. She only returned $3 and some change, which was incorrect. It took me a while to get their attention to point out the mistake. I had to explain to them at least three times before they understood. When she finally handed me an additional $10, she seemed really angry. I don't think I'll return to this place again.

I absolutely love the cakes at this place! They are always prompt and efficient with my orders. I can't resist getting the strawberry cake every time!

This place offers fantastic Chinese pastries, and I've been a customer for years. If you're a fan of traditional treats like pineapple buns, this is the perfect spot for classic and mouthwatering pastries.
