Southern Cafe - Oakland

The food is consistently delicious! I live in Central California, so I make sure to visit this restaurant every time I'm in the Bay Area.

This restaurant is the closest you'll find to authentic Southern cooking. It's ten times better than Lena's Dixon's.

I have been eagerly looking forward to trying this restaurant, especially since I live nearby. However, they need to provide updates on their business, as it is currently closed. There is no information provided when attempting to call.

We had short ribs over rice, candied yams, collard greens a corn bread muffin. The food was SO good I had to call them back just to tell them how delicious it was, just perfect flavor fall off the bone tender. Take out only but that's fine by our family. We all ordered the short ribs (offered on Sunday I believe, check menu) Oh yeah, when I want to give my wife a break from cooking my will be on Southern Cafe. We had not dinned there in a while due to Covid but the 3rd weekend July 2023 was a great re-union of our taste buds their soul food.
