It was a beautiful day at the market. Everything in order everything clean and nice and I bought some beautiful halibut and vegetables. They have everything
Only the freshest seafood here at affordable prices. It all depends on what you want and how you're going to prepare it. The lobsters were a great deal. As for the oysters, I've only had the pleasure of getting Pacific oysters. The pacific oysters are huge and have plenty of meat. However, I prefer to cook these on the grill. When I'm feeling extra fancy and want to eat oysters raw off the half shell with some Tabasco sauce and lemon, my go-to is the Sumo Kumo. The Sumos are the most expensive and the Pacific oysters are the most affordable. Can't go wrong here. Do not go here on holidays because the line wraps around the perimeter of the property. There aren't that many Japanese markets in the Oakland area. When I'm craving for the simple sashimi trays that are typically sold at Mitsuwa/Nijiya, this is my next best place to satisfy my quick sashimi pick without having to visit a Japanese restaurant. It's for those times when I just want to get in and out. Not much variety than your typical salmon, tuna and hamachi offering but what I can say it's very fresh and tasty. This place is more of a deli style shop where you pick what you want through the deli cases. They also sell uni, salmon heads and blocks of fish for you to take home to host your own sushi party. If that isn't your cup of tea, they also sell shrimp, a variety of whole fish and depending on the season crabs. They are located inside Swan's Market along the backside. Street parking can be tough depending on the day and time but still feasible.
Fantastically fresh seafood. Whole fish with clear eyes, crab that would not let go of the bag to be boiled. Will definitely return before crab season ends.
