Mekong - Oakland

Beyond the food, the staff is incredibly kind and respectful. Although there may be a small language barrier, I've never had a problem placing my order. On my last visit, I took a Lyft to the restaurant, and while waiting for my ride back, I experienced some delays due to server issues. The kind lady offered to call a taxi for us and even offered us tea to enjoy while we waited inside, even though they had already closed for the night. The atmosphere at Pho Mekong is humble, quiet, and straightforward. While it may not be flashy, the well-prepared, satisfying food more than makes up for it. In the realm of pho restaurants, I would definitely rate this a 5 out of 5. It's worth the trip if you're in the mood for pho.

The first Pho restaurant we tried in California was a great experience. I really enjoyed the Pho Boh Tra (beef), which was excellent, and the broth was amazing, especially with just a bit of chili spice—two spoonfuls were perfect. The Thai iced tea was also nice, not too sweet at all.

This my new Pho fav place. The place could use a upgrade but we weren't here for that. Personally I liked it better eating there since I like adding alot of spice. Been there 3 times in two weeks. A must try.

Been going to Pho Mekong for years now. Sadly it is one of the last old school Pho spots in Oakland as Kevin 's Noodle House and Pho Hoa Loa closed years ago. Usual fare here: pho, bun, Bahn mi. Food is standard nothing will wow you. What makes Pho Mekong different is that they sell desserts smoothies, Boba and the Vietnamese version of Halo Halo. If you want pho with beef slices to your liking (rare), ask for it on the side and put it in yourself.

The broth is delicious and there’s plenty of meat. The outdoor seating area is lovely. The extra large portion is enormous!
