Contribuiți la feedbackThis Haitian restaurant on 38th has really good food. The service is a different story. Food 5 stars. I've had the oxtail and the island chicken and both times the level of spice and the level of food temperature have been very good....and the black rice, excellently prepared..........excellent kitchen staff. Service 1 star. The two times I've been there, I have found the rudest people behind the counter. The first time, the lady basically gave one word answers to whatever questions we had about the menu, food, types, etc. Looking at me like What In the Heck do you Want ????? This last time (Thursday April 29th around 12:30pm) the lady whose name was Aqulla (server #35) (based on the receipt) was the rudest person I have ever encountered in a restaurant. I walked in and mentioned how delicious the aromas were...She looked at me with hate in her eyes and basically said nothing. Just a GRUNT....that was what I got as an answer. Then I asked for my meal and said not a single word, but her eyes again were very piercing and almost hateful.... Owner or Manager of this place: There are thousands of restaurants in the area....dozens of Caribbean flair. People don't need this type of abuse nor poor customer service. I will stop recommending this place to my friends if the service does not improve. This lady needs major training or re training on how to deal with PAYIING customers that help pay for HER salary. Horrible customer service....Horrible.....
Food is good. Very good. Well seasoned, quite delicious. My problem is that every time I call them, they don't answer. I called four times in a row just now and voicemail every time. I wouldn't even post this if this was the first, second, or third time. It's consistent. I went in to place an order for take out cause they don't answer the phone and there were a good 10 people working the front, phone ringing off the hook, no one even made an attempt to answer. A waste of time.
Eating here is good, but they actually stop taking phone orders and customers wait 45 minutes at least for a delivery order, the customer service is also terrible. this is not my first time here it is so every time I learned my fiction and today my last time will be here.
Immersed for a quick lunch and some appetizers. I'm new to the ugly kitchen, but I was excited to dig in. I ordered the huge and to my canvas there were no pikles available the spicy claw that binds in the whole dish.) the giant was on point and super crispy, but I missed the kick. the spicy engraving she gave us was not the same. my friend has the appetizers of accra. I really enjoyed that. crispy and full of taste. try it! I saw a huge fried snapper on the table of another and I want to come back and try. it's worth waiting for the food!
In my last review, I tried to warn people about how bad the service is here. I swore to never come back. On this night, I had friends visiting from Philadelphia and they INSISTED on trying the restaurant because it was next to the funky Buddha. Reluctantly, I agreed to go. This was my first mistake. Upon entering the restaurant, it was incredibly hot, and the floor EXTREMELY slippery. DANGEROUSLY slippery. The wet floor sign was halfway in the middle of the restaurant and facing the wrong way. It 's like they WANT a lawsuit filed against them. There was a pregnant employee walking around and we all could only cringe as she carefully made her way through the restaurant. We walked in and stood at the door as the hostess walked past us a few times. She finally came over, grabbed a few menus and sort of insinuated that we follow her to a table. After getting seated, the employees all gathered behind the buffet line (which isn 't used for buffet style serving at all and all food here must be here for decoration) and carried on conversations with eachother and other guests. When our server finally came over to take our order, we ordered everything at once (food and drinks) because we all know that there is a HIGH probability of never seeing the server again until the food makes its way to the table. 6 people were seated at the table. Our server came over about 20 minutes later with three waters balancing in her hands (why she didn 't use a serving tray to bring all of the drinks at once is beyond me). She placed the waters down and went back to, what we presumed, get the other three waters. She never returned. I had to get up and talk to three separate employees before getting the other three waters. Our server returned about 20 minutes later with salads for the table. If anyone has ever eaten here, the salad isn 't the most beautiful presentation, but is pretty much a head of lettuce split up, topped with sliced red and green peppers and onions. Ours had none of that. Just salad. As we watched another table being served the correct toppings, our ire was only provoked even more. Personally, I ordered a fried chicken meal which consists of fried chicken, rice, and fried plantains. Naturally, no plantains were present at our table. At this point we all had HAD IT with this place. While waiving down the server, she sent over some guy (I guess her manager) who clearly knew the floor was slippery because he slid over as if he were on skates at a 60s drive through diner. When I explained to him what was going on, he asked if he should bring the plantains to go. Well, obviously. We were done eating by the time they made their way back to our table anyway. I feel that there 's an unwritten rule. Children and women should get their food first. My son complained for so long how hungry he was that my blood boiled. My fellow parents will understand. You 're not mad at the child. You 're mad because you 're in a situation that you can 't control. A child orders a BURGER and has to wait all night for it? Wow. We were charged a gratuity for a party of 6, although there are signs posted in the restaurant due to covid no party greater than 4. So who 's fault it is on that one, I 'll let you, the reader decide I guess. All in all, I 'm in complete awe of how this place is still open. The service was bad when it opened, and gets worse daily. For someone like myself who had NEVER worked in a restaurant, I feel like certain things should be common sense, but the people that work here must all be related and share similar deficiencies. To have 4 tables in a restaurant total, and to be utterly flustered to the point that you can 't walk back and forth between the 4 tables is just embarrassing. I know the restaurant will never read this review, nor will they care because they 've been getting bad reviews and continue with their lackluster bs, but I hope I am able to reach enough people to prevent others from having to sit through such a disaster
