Uhuru Foods Pies - Oakland

I had lunch here at the shop on the farm market. I had the jolt chicken sandwich and it was delicious. the person who took my order was aware of the importance of veganism and everything was clearly marked. one of the chefs accidentally gave me a non-veganes sandwich, and the person who took my order took it on to notice and correct the problem. I am also excited about the community work that this organization does. love it!

I haven't tried her delicious cake yet, but the sweet blackberry cake was delicious! I wish I had bought a bigger size. My only criticism is that they are not a vegan business. I thought they were a vegan business as they were at a vegan event, but it turns out they were selling meat.

See them every Saturday at the Grand See Farmers market. and all proceeds go to their high-standing organization, UHURU, strong for over 40 years. My favourite is the curry lentil pee that tastes traditional Jamaican veggie. I'm not so in the chicken, but that's just because I'm not so in fake meat. They also have sweet cakes, many of them vegan, including sweet potato cakes, BlackBerry and more.

I have not had the opportunity to try their savory pies, but the sweet blackberry pie was incredibly tasty! I regret not purchasing a larger portion. My only critique is that the establishment is not vegan. I had assumed they were a vegan business because they were present at a vegan event, but unfortunately, they also serve meat.
