View - Oakdale

It was to our dismay to share the dining room with an engagement party. It also took forever to get drinks and our server lost track of us to the point of giving us our bill before our dinner came out. The venue is great but everything else was disappointing. We will not hurry back.

The only reason folks go these restaurants are for the views and to sit outside by the waterfront. Even if you out in a request ahead of time the standard response is subject to availability and when you get there early and plenty of empty tables outside they seat you inside. Hello we are there for the view and ambience not for your food which is mediocre.

This was our first time dining at View. We had a fresh, well-prepared, and delicious meal! The littleneck clams, chopped salad, Peking duck tacos, swordfish over gnocchi cauliflower puree, and bistro burger were excellent. Beautiful ambience on the water. Live music was great! We will return!

We went to the View to celebrate our anniversary and while the food was delicious, the service was terrible. We had been sat for 25 minutes and still hadn't seen a server to even take our drink order. An hour and 10 minutes into our dining experience and we still hadn't received our appetizer so I expressed my frustration and the manager was good about bringing it out and without hesitation comped our drinks and appetizer. The rest of the evening went smooth. As for the food, my wife had the Lobster pasta and the portion was very generous and she enjoyed the flavor. I had the sesame encrusted ahi tuna and it also was very good. I added the lobster risotto and it was also very tasty. So maybe it was an off night in the kitchen, and I appreciate the managers recognition, but we will be celebrating our anniversary elsewhere moving forward.

It's a beautiful place. However, when I made my reservation, I asked for an outside table, which I know was not guaranteed.  However when we arrived, there were several empty outside tables, but they told us it would be an hour wait or we can sit inside. They seem to really push the inside so we sat inside with a terrible view and then decided that we would prefer prefer to wait. Again we were told that it would be an hour or so and several people were in front of us and we said that is fine and would go sit at the bar. Miraculously within five minutes, a table opened and we were seated outdoors. The restaurant needs to do a better job of how they assign tables to servers so that is distributed equally and that they are not encouraged to ask people to sit inside. The food was good, no spectacular as well as the service. Had a nice young man but for the price point of our meal would have expected a little more attentiveness.
