Red Dog Saloon - Oak Hill

Great rafting trip. I came to town to run a Spartan race and made a long weekend of it. Our guide Brody was great. He grew up on the river and has tons of knowledge of the area. Felt very safe having never rafted before. There were 2 opportunities to swim if you wanted to and even jump off a 25 foot rock. Lunch was great, make your own deli sandwiches, salads, chips and pudding for dessert. Super impressed they set up the peanut butter far away from the other foods to avoid contamination. My only complaint is the smoking. The other guests on my boat were allowed to smoke on the boat. Yes they asked my if I minded but I didn’t want to be put in the position to say yes and upset them. Everyone knew I was there to run a race, I’m a nationally ranked athlete and yet all smoked around me. Both the bus driver and guide on the other boat were smoking as well. Yes we were outside but that does not diminish the effects of second hand smoke. I know many people that would not be able to enjoy rafting because of allergies and asthma with the smoke. Please make the trips non smoking.

The cancellation policy is quite misleading. I purchased the additional cancellation coverage because of Covid and hurricane season concerns. With an expected thunderstorm approaching, I requested to reschedule my reservation, as my cancellation policy states that this is possible within 72 hours. However, they informed me that "within" doesn't actually mean "within" and that it should have specified "prior to." As a result, I was left with no choice but to cancel or risk rafting in thunder and lightning. Although we look forward to returning to the beautiful new river gorge, we will be choosing a different service that prioritizes safety.

We rafted today with Ian as our guide. Ciara was our guide in training. It was great! Our family consists of very adventurous to not at all adventurous and everyone had a great time. Ian did a great job keeping us safe, entertained and informed of what to expect next. The lunch was really good. We are already trying to figure out when we can make it back.

Checked their website to make sure they were open it said it was.And there and nothing the lights were out doors locked extremely disappointed.Oh I am sorry there was a small sign that read light breakfast

We had a fantastic time! The experience was entertaining, and both our raft guide and bus driver were awesome. Everyone involved made it memorable! I would definitely go back in a heartbeat! Brody was especially great!
