Depending on the time and day, you can get a very reasonably-priced Uber ride to either location. It is also within walking distance of several great restaurants. Le Meridian is clean and modern, and in a very safe area. Our room on the second floor was also very clean and modern. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. The only downsides: no free coffee in the morning, a bit noisy at night, and the mattress is so comfortable, it makes me realize how uncomfortable my mattress is at home!
Yikes! Read before staying on a cold winter Saturday night! Negatives: they allow crazy parties on the 9th floor that will prevent you from sleeping down on the 4th floor. The irony they post a sign when you get off the elevator (see pic) that quiet hours are 9pm 9am. Check the other pic Sophie’s party with dancing went til 11:30. We had no idea when we checked in. We called around 10:30pm and they said they were starting a list of guests that were complaining and asked them to turn it down. The bass was incredible and you could still hear the music with the tv on and our heater. Oh yea, would have never expected to need a heater at this type of hotel in Oak Brook. They explained the HVAC is a central system so we don’t get to control the temp with the thermostat in our room. But the good news, this is a normal complaint so they have heaters ready for guests in the winter and fans for the summer. Huh?! Glad your prepared but really?! Last negative with the party and no notice, the restaurant was closed. We were fine with room service but due to the party the menu was limited. Guess Sophie got all the good food last night. Positive: they offered us water at check in. The food we were able to order from room service was very good. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The space heater worked great.
Easily accessible from I 88, the hotel is adjacent to Oakbrook Shopping Center (5 minute walk to Nordstrom's . What was good? All of the employees with whom we interacted were kind and seemed to enjoy working there. The hotel is clean. Our room was very clean. Even the shower was great thank you for the Mailin+goetz products I wish this was for sale in your lobby! The bed was comfortable with substantive pillows. Thank you for the free bottled water in the room. The Longitude 87 on the main floor was the perfect place to have a drink snack at the end of the day. The 9th floor restaurant, El Tapeo, was another great surprise we watched sunset! The food (we had tapas sangria was very good and the servers (supper and breakfast were attentive and personable. What was a bit disappointing? It would be helpful to have a few more amenities in the room (shower cap, cotton balls to remove makeup... What was bad? Poorly considered handicap parking with direct access to the hotel. We happened to run into someone who had used the backdoor handicap parking. Because the backdoor to the hotel does not have a user friendly opener the person was struggling to get inside. If we had not been there I do not know what this person would have done. They had obviously struggled to even get to the door. I would recommend that the hotel manager get in a wheelchair in a handicap parking space and then try to get themselves (alone into the hotel from all of the handicap parking spaces and especially the backdoor. As long as you do not have mobility issues, this hotel is worth the stay.
We stayed for two nights for a wedding in Elmhurst. The hotel is next to Oakbrook Mall. The hotel is modern and very pleasant. We had breakfast in the dining room on the ninth floor. It is very pricey but the omelets are excellent. Parking is an issue. On one night, the hotel lot was filled and I had to park in the Container Store lot next door. We recommend the hotel.
In the 6 years I have been staying in this area for work trips, I think I have stayed at every hotel in a 3-4 mile radius of my work office. This one, I had not tried and figured I would despite the higher rates given the walking distance to restaurants and services and my not having a rental. Staff was friendly, the hotel is super conveniently located and is clean. Rooms are comfortable and pretty standard... really nothing special. I did love the in room coffee pods, that was a plus. Sleep quality was meh, they use super cheap pillows here, which is a shame given they are trying to go for a 'nicer end ' experience here. I was provided lots of complimentary water in my room which I also appreciated. My three nights were a solid stay. I would say the Hyatt House down the street is just as good and on room, sleep quality, cleanliness and staff. You just won 't get the killer coffee pods or have access to a roof top bar and spa services.
