It's pretty much a storefront at a new-ish but sparsely occupied commercial plaza about 100 yards east of El Barracuda in the N.V. Marina area.Decoration of the place is simple and contemporary; it could easily be mistaken for an ice cream or frozen yogurt place if there were no signs.Waitress (lady owner?) was very friendly and patient in explaining their menu (various available fish for the day and ceviches of different styles or flavors) to us. Admittedly, they are quite creative and do apparently insist on using the freshest ingredients.The ceviches my wife and I ordered were indeed delicious. However, choices did seem a bit limited if one were not into ceviches, or raw food in general. Also, I felt that the food took a bit long to come out, despite the fact that we were the only table the entire time that we were there (maybe it's just the way it is; menu did state that it usually takes 25+ minutes of prep time for most items). In addition, I'd have to say that prices weren't necessarily cheap given the amount of food.Manao Cebicheria is a little gem of an eatery that one would love to root for, but I personally find it a bit hard to review/rate it. The food was good and innovative, but maybe I'm just not used to having ceviches as a full meal. While I have no doubt they'd enjoy great success if they were to relocate to, say, the Vidanta Resort, their current location with VERY limited (as far as I could see on the day I visited) foot traffic worries me a bit. As for its current status as the #1 restaurant in Nuevo Vallarta, and for people possibly making it a dining "destination"? That, I am really not so sure....
Don't even recall the preparations wife and I ordered this time. Hers had something to do with ceviche in a jar though it was not actually in a jar. I had never tired my preparation before but it was great. Fishermen may not go out on Sunday night so no fresh fish Monday morning when Hassan goes to La Cruz to buy fish. If none, they don't open. No compromising by this couple. Keep your eyes open for an announcement by the owners.
I was in Nuevo Vallarta for work and stopped by this place three times during my trip. The owners are lovely people who are happy to make recommendations based on what's fresh that day. I tried the (seasonal) mango aguachile and the chipotle tuna, both were outstanding. Make sure to save room for their equally impressive homemade desserts. The key lime pie is incredible.
This is by far the best cerviche and it is a must try. As other readers have stated it is best to make reservations. If they do not receive any fresh fish that day they are not open. They have added a few new dishes to the menu. Some dishes may take up to 30 minutes to prepare. The owners are extremely about which fish goes better with which dish. This is a must try place if you are in the area!
Superb Ceviches. We were a family of four and ended up reordering two more ceviches. They have multiple flavors and everything we tried was yummy and distinct. We reserved in advance and they ket us known that we could get our own alcohol. Warm service. Ita a bit oir od the way if you are in pv but worth the hike.
