El Manglar - Nosara

Today considered tico quesadillas and a pilsner beer. the staff was super friendly and helpful, they also spoke pretty good English. eating was delicious and moderate. I really enjoyed myself and the environment is clean and safe and I will be back!

Excellent customer service, and great tasting food for around $30 for two people. also, I go back only for the handmade tortillas on the fish tacos!

Vibe was decent at this point – tiny light location under the jungle. The food was delish-we had tacos that were 3 on a plate and the Asian fusion special Poke Bowl. Ceviche wasn't the best in town, but still high with fish. My only complaint would be lighting as it was difficult to see our food so that we used cell phone light that is not ideal. In addition, the whole way that led to the restaurant was not well lit, but it was a great experience without that, and we saw a Howler monkey in the tree!

The food at El Manglar is good (not great) but like everything in Costa Rica, it is very expensive. The restaurant is on a dark dead end street with no views and is outdoor seating. The issue I have is that on top of the inflated menu prices, they add a mandatory 10 “service” fee (that does NOT go to the servers) plus the local 13 tax AND then added another 12+ fee on top of the total bill (incl the “mandatory service fee” and tax) by using a bogus 450 colones to 1 US Dollar exchange rate when todays actual currency exchange rate is approx 512 1. This added another $15 F you fee to our bill. By the time you add a tip for the server, you are paying an additional 57+ on top of the high menu prices I won’t be back…

Fantastic place for dinner. We went twice and I had the gnocchi and the surf and turf. Both were tasty especially the latter. Nice ambience as well. Work on point. I had a dessert the second time brownie with ice cream and it was really poor. It was chocolate cake not brownie and it was burnt. So mains great nice place but they need a dessert chef or sone training in that aspect.
