Masala Garden - Norwich

We visited with a friend on Sunday night when the deal is 20% discount for cash.. we found the service lacklustre, disinterested and slow. After ordering we asked for all the dishes to be served at the same time, we received half and after about 15 minutes asked where the rest was, waiter had to get a print out of our bill, then went to the kitchen. During this time at least four takeaway orders went out. The food was ok but obviously at various temperatures. There was no rapport between the staff and the diners and we had to ask for the table to be cleared and suggested that the long delay might deserve a complimentary pudding but were told abruptly that” we don’t serve puddings”. To pay you have to go to the till, no bill is presented at the table such is the level of disinterest, seeing the bill I asked if the 20% had been deducted and was told that only applied to takeaways. We went outside with the waiter and pointed out the sign that clearly said takeaways and dine in and were told that the sign was wrong! We then met some other customers leaving and they confirmed that they did receive the discount so back in we went and were paid our dues. This had all the odour of a scam by the staff though obviously it Would be difficult to prove. We will not darken their doors again and I suggest that you do follow our lead. In addition to that the place has a hygiene rating of one.

I have delayed this review until now to give a genuinely honest appraisal. We have visited 3 times. 2 times eat in and one a takeaway. We booked a table for the first time in September 2023 and then saw the food hygiene rating and recent reviews that were frankly not good. However, our visit was post their inspection and I cannot speak highly enough of the venue. On arrival it was spotlessly clean, the staff were attentive and more importantly the food was fabulous. The same experience in October 2023. We have just had a takeaway and again a great experience. Food on time and really tasty, lovely staff. I definitely recommend this restaurant

Myself, son, sister and partner had a table booked at masala garden for a get together meal until we saw the hygiene rating which is 1*! How disgusting, our booking was immediately cancelled and we will never be visiting this restaurant. Check your food hygiene rating before attending a booking.

We were going to go here tonight but not now!!!! Went on the off chance. Have heard good reports of the restaurant, and decided to give it a go. Received a warm welcome, and the food was freshly cooked. Very clean restaurant, and staff very attentive. Will certainly be returning!!!
