My husband and I received vouchers for this restaurant as a Christmas gift, so we decided to use them for an afternoon tea on Tuesday, January 9th. After looking at the menu online, we both decided to go for the special afternoon tea. However, our waiter Shane suggested that sharing one between us would be enough as it was a lot of food. We took his advice and shared one. We were able to choose our own scone flavors – my husband had cheese and I had fruit. We also got to pick our cheesecake and macaroon flavors. The service was quick and Shane was very friendly and helpful. We are now looking forward to going back to use our second voucher!
Visited for brunch with my daughter, not very busy, about half empty and we were seated very quickly. Placed our order with the drinks coming out after a short break, I did notice very few staff. After finishing our drinks we waited for our our avocado on toast with a poached egg and waited and waited. After waiting nearly an hour I asked where our food was and basically they had never made it as the waiter never gave the kitchen our order, told them to cancel and left. Would not recommend, it all looked a bit amateurish to be honest. Note to owner, it would look more appealing if you got rid of the cobwebs on the chandeliers.
My partner and I visited this restaurant for lunch during our stay in Bury St. Edmunds and we were both very impressed with the food. My cheese, ham, and onion panini with a side of chips was delicious. However, when we returned for breakfast another day, the experience was not as good. My partner, a sausage enthusiast, found the sausages to be tasteless. The portion size was also smaller than expected. My disappointment came from the poorly toasted slice of bread with frozen butter that was difficult to spread. It would have been much more enjoyable if the toast had been buttered for us.
Beautiful food well presented, however I’m not sure how a large salad on the side of a breakfast dish was warranted. On a freezing day (0 degrees) in Norwich we plumped for the scrambled eggs on sourdough (good quality eggs with orange yolks) and Eggs Benedict with Bacon. Both with unnecessary large salads as accompaniments as mentioned. Unfortunately despite both dishes being delivered hot, they were served on cold plates and with these being placed on freezing cold marble tables with no tablecloth or placemats, these were soon cold meals. Likewise the hot Capuccino and cafetière of Sumatran coffee, although initially hot and welcoming, soon cooled on the marble top. Despite the cold meals the taste and flavour was good and value for money, with good friendly service.
