We stopped here on a rainy afternoon as our original destination weren't doing Sunday lunch. We were seated promptly and the food was wholesome, delicious and good value. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back. We'll done the station inn.
A lovely, comfortable little bar with friendly staff, a nice atmosphere and top rate real ales! The Tyneside Blonde was especially good. One to include on your Hexham pub crawl!
The woman at the front desk was very friendly. We found it a bit strange that we were given a TV remote upon check-in. It seems like they have had issues with theft in the past. The room appeared clean, but there were dust webs in the corners and hanging from the light fixture. There were no visible electrical outlets, so we had to move a large chest of drawers to plug in the kettle. There was an extension cord on the other side of the room that seemed to go through the wall to another room, which was very odd. The mirrors were also placed in inconvenient locations. There were only two mirrors in the bathroom and above the bed, but you needed to stand on the bed to see into it. The wall-mounted hairdryer had no mirror nearby, making it difficult to use for styling. The bed was uncomfortable, feeling like lying on concrete with noisy springs. Check-out time was early at 10 am, and breakfast was only served until 9 am, which was too early for a weekend. I only had toast for breakfast since I cannot eat much early in the morning. My husband's full English breakfast looked alright. The tea served was weak, possibly due to only using two teabags per pot. Some background music would have been nice to create a better atmosphere. Overall, we do not plan on returning to this establishment.
Stayed here with my husband and a group of friends for two nights because we were at a wedding in the area. The staff were really lovely and looked after us very well. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are a little bit tired but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good too. Easy 10 minute walk to town centre and, as the name suggests, very handy for the train station. We'd definitely stay there again if in the area. All round great value and lovely hospitality.
