Sylvester's - Northampton

My daughter and I visited a local college and decided to grab some lunch before I headed back to Maine. One of the students recommended Sylvester's. We waited about half an hour on a Saturday at 1:00 PM, and it was definitely worth it. I ordered the potato bowl with Brussels sprouts, which came topped with bacon and onions. I also added ham and paired it with a nitro cold brew coffee. My only complaint is that there was no sugar substitute available on the table. The meal was absolutely delicious! We also picked up some baked goods from the café to take with us: a giant chocolate macaron, a large double chocolate salted cookie, and a s'mores bar. All three treats cost just $5.89 and were delightful!

When I leave my paradise in South Florida, I love to visit my second paradise, Northampton. On my first and last mornings—and many others during my stay—there's only one place I go for my chai tea and banana pancakes, served by a friendly server. Even after working at Sylvester's for a while, my first breakfast experience there remains special. Thank you to the staff at Sylvester's!

I visited for the first time on Sunday and here are my impressions: make sure to find parking early to avoid walking too far, although it’s not far from the surrounding lot. Be prepared for a wait, as it’s quite popular for breakfast and brunch. The banana bread French toast with real maple syrup was out of this world—one of the best things I’ve ever tasted! I typically don’t enjoy Benedict, but I decided to try the Irish Benedict after being encouraged to do so. It turned out to be the most delicious breakfast I've ever had. The fresh beef hash was served on a moist, slightly sweet corn muffin, topped with perfectly poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce. Each element was exquisite on its own. The staff clearly knows how to do breakfast right, and they nailed my request for medium eggs every time. A close friend of mine described the bacon as "the stuff dreams are made of," and she was absolutely spot on—it was perfectly cooked every single time. The atmosphere makes you feel welcomed, making it seem like you’ve been there before, thanks to the friendly hosts and waitstaff. I would definitely return, although I wish it wasn’t a 30-minute drive!

Go early. You'll never be disappointed. I had the Huevos Rancheros, not on many menus, fantastic. Almost too much to eat, but pick up the salsa and the sour cream on the side or it will cool your dish. Very friendly place, very busy. But it's always worth it.

Delicious food served with a smile. They have a great variety of dishes, made from local ingredients, high-quality and reasonably priced. On the weekend the wait can be significant, but it's always worth it! the food and service are unbeatable. I always leave satisfied. My favorite breakfast place in The Valley!
