I actually wanted to try this restaurant for awhile and when I found out they opened one in Willowdale, I was excited to go their hot stone dishes. The wait times here took quite some time because there was only one cashier/server and one cook. I saw lots of people come and go and realized that they were deliverers and so I assumed more people ordered online than coming here in person. I'd have to say that both dishes were well-portioned given the price. The fact that it came on a hot stone pot meant that the food would be kept warmer longer and so it took some time for me to wait for it to cool down. The udon was really good, I enjoyed it lots. The rice cakes were equally as good, it was more on the creamier side which I do not usually get when eating at other restaurants. I would like to their up north locations to try their other dishes one day. I am glad I got to try this place before it closed down.
Huh...surprised but not surprised it closed...still I shall write a much delayed review...just because I owe it one... This place isn't all that bad despite being the small little shop it is and squished beside others...3 small tables and a short length by-the-wall seats. Not much decor but it had some grey wood-like design colured walls. Waiters seem all right from what I recall. Food was actually what I came here for and I was not displeased at all! In fact both tasted amazing and wish they put juuuust a bit more udon in the Spicy Mentaiko Beef Udon. Flavour and sauce was yummy! The Black Curry Pork Cutlet Rice was on par too! Great flavours all together and I had trouble deciding which one to go for every time I finished a bowl. Honestly, sad to see it go but they weren't that busy to begin with it seemed when we went...perhaps it was due to the small space...but otherwise everything else seemed ok!
This Flaming location is very tiny; Like 3 tables and bar seating for 4. If you go at peek hours the wait can be very long. Passed by a few times and decide not to wait. Finally came at off hours (8pm Wed) and was the only table there. Staff was super polite and friendly. Got the Black curry katsu, portion is good and the curry itself wasn't that spicy. Staff came to check on us and refilled our water a few times. The markham location is a lot nicer in terms of atmosphere but the food here is the same. Will be back for more flaming meals in the future.
Fantastic service. Polite, quick and responsive. The food was great and delicious. Paying by cash also allows for instant raffle with prize. Got a free meal next visit. Great promo.
Flaming Kitchen is a restaurant with few seats and small interior but don't let it distract you from the quality of the food. Everything was perfect from first bite, especially the tofu appetizer which was surprisingly refreshing. The entrees are all served on hot plates which sizzle as they arrive so the food stays hot as you're eating. It's pricier than other eateries around North York but it's more than worth its price. My girlfriend got the curry udon with duck breast and the sauce prepared is both spicy and addicting. I got a herb sauce with chicken dish which was on the blander side but still very satisfying to eat. Noodles are cooked to stir-fry gold standard and there's a decent portion of whatever meat you choose. I would recommend getting the udon over the spaghetti and definitely grabbing at least one appetizer such as the popcorn chicken or century egg with tofu. If I lived locally, this would be one of my default locations for lunch as it satisfies the craving for carbs, fat, and good Asian food. Give this place a try!
