Contribuiți la feedbackWe passed this restaurant many times but were a little concerned as we are not Christians. One lunch time we 'took the plunge' and were delighted with our choice of restaurant for lunch. The service was excellent as was the food. We will return!
The 2 of us managed to squeeze in for a quick dinner just before they closed. Unfortunately they close at 10 pm on week nights with a last call to order at 9:30 pm. It didn't take long for our food to arrive. We ordered the Kam Hiong Prawns and Sambal okra with green beans. Both dishes were packed full of flavour with just enough kick. The prawns were a decent size and quantity. I imagine that it is easy to kick it up a notch or 2, if you choose. Great location, just off Highway 1. Take the Lonsdale exit heading south. Not far to drive if you have a hankering for authentic Malaysian food. Great ambience and clean. Good selection of meat (chicken, beef and lamb) plus tofu and seafood. Can't wait to try the other dishes.
In North Van where most ethnic food is dialled down to homogenous bland crappitude what a delight it is to go to a restaurant where spicy is spicy and taste is preserved. I was born in Malaysia and my parents are Malaysian. They pronounce the food as tasty as do I. Our favourites - curry laksa, roti canai, char kuay teow
Having spent some time over the past few months in Malaysia, where the food is amazing, we were taken to this restaurant in North Vancouver (Lonsdale Ave). The menu contains many of our favourites so we ordered several dishes to taste and share. All of the dishes we tried reminded us of Malaysia. Pulut Panggang, Satay Chicken, Nasi Lemak, Char Koay Teow, Mamak Mee Goreng, finished off with Chendol for dessert. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. This is a must-visit restaurant, for those who enjoy the diverse cuisine of Malaysia but also for those who have not tried Malaysian food but who would like to.
We heard about this place and decided to drop in. Wednesday night 6 PM - the place was empty - but filled while we ate. We had roti, Hainanese chicken, sambal fish and the okra dish, and coconut rice; green tea and/or beer to drink.YUMM! - Because we were early, everything appeared in seconds, piping hot. The roti was super-good - we had to get a second order. Even the rice was delicious. Each dish was tasty and satisfying on its own - but made a lovely meal all together. We enjoyed it all.My only objection is the decor - which is cafeteria-style booths and a rather worn and dreary general atmosphere. Austere - in spite of a big photo of a beach and palm trees, and a fake palm leaf covered cabin thing. (dust trap?) Cutlery, dishes, are cheap and just get tossed on the formica table. Definitely no elegance here. But then, we came for the food - and that was good.
