The Malt Shovel - North Lincolnshire

We had an unplanned Sunday lunch and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was well cooked, the service was excellent, and it was great value. It was the best carvery we've had in a long time. Hats off to everyone involved!

Today we met our friends at this restaurant for lunch before Christmas. Our friends had reserved a table for us at noon, and we noticed that many people were coming and going while we were there. We were seated at our table and informed that we needed to order our food and drinks at the bar. Menus were left on our table for us to choose from. We ordered the Grimsby Fish and Chips with mushy peas (which had a very large fish), lasagne with garlic bread and salad, gammon with chips, egg, onion rings, and beef pie with chips and vegetables. All five meals were generous portions. The Christmas menu had to be pre-ordered.

The employees at the restaurant were impolite and rushed. The goulash did not resemble traditional goulash and was served lukewarm. The coffee was weak and tasted more like hot, watery milk.

Food lovely. Service good. Selection of food is really good. Staff friendly. Local to me so go there often with family and friends.

Ordered the burger but it was overcooked, but to compensate they offered a free desert. My friends ordered pie and veg and loved it. Lovely quiet atmosphere during the week.
