Sunny's Sushi Hut - North Hollywood

I recently had some of the best sushi I've ever had at this restaurant. The baked rolls were out of this world and their prices are very reasonable.

FOOD! This must be one of the best sushi places I've ever been! Your sushi is to die! It's a hole in the wall next to a 7/11 it was my first time and I was like where it is? As they say, although never judges a book through his cover, this place went beyond and beyond with their mouth watering sushi and excellent service! Our waiter always checked us and rejoiced that it was our first time. I definitely come back!

After seeing a controversial video about this restaurant on TikTok, I decided to check it out for myself. Upon arrival, I noticed that half of the tables were still dirty even though the restaurant was empty. The sushi rice tasted stale and the seafood shells were clearly not fresh. The older waiter provided decent service, but the younger waiter became rude and insulting when he felt that a $6 tip on a $22 meal was insufficient.

Without asking if we wanted anything else, the check was promptly brought to us. When my husband expressed interest in trying a dessert, the waiter declined to serve us, citing that we had been seated for too long. This was a first for me. Additionally, the credit/debit machine was old and slow, taking 15 minutes to process our payment. Throughout this time, the waiter hovered over us, eagerly awaiting his tip. In America, it is considered impolite to leave less than a 25% tip. My husband, feeling generous, left what he deemed appropriate and we promptly left. The aquatic pets displayed in a dirty aquarium were some of the worst-maintained I have ever witnessed, with two looking close to death. This was by far the worst dining experience we have ever had. We will not be returning and will be sure to inform our friends to steer clear of this place.

This little hidden gem is in the same plaza as the 7 eleven, so it's really easy to miss. It is tiny with about 6 indoor tables and 2 outdoor two-tops. The service is fantastic and they have a really extensive menu with several inexpensive combo choices.
