The menu had a nice simple selection at reasonable prices, and the drink options were also good. The young bartender was very friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
Great country pub. Made us feel very welcome and we had a great family mea and a few drinks. The locals were chatty and visiting dog Rupert (the boxer) was ace. Young barman was friendly and helpful. Chilli x 2, pizza and chips/fries were all cooked ace.
We came across this gem of a pub with dog friendly rooms yesterday teatime, we work between Knebworth and Milton Keynes regularly, we booked last minute on a recommendation from another local pub... We only gave David, the landlord about half an hours notice, but everything was perfect when we arrived, the rooms are perfect, quite newly built from what we could gather, facilities fabulous, considering we hadn’t pre booked, all stops were pulled out for us... The actual pub was great, we live in a small village ourselves, which can be a bit clicky..... NOT here though, locals and staff were so friendly, all chatting, laughing (we are Northern! No north /south divide here)!!! Food was great too, really enjoyed our stay, will definitely stay again, rooms are perfect with a great village pub Can’t recommend enough Simon and Julia
It isn’t often you stumble across a pub as wonderful as the Red Lion, and we can’t wait to return. We were staying in a local B&B and arrived in the area at about 7pm, naturally we went straight onto our phones and scouted out the nearest pub on the map. It was just a few minutes walk away. This approach is often a miss rather than a hit as you never quite know what you are going to find. As we approached we were pleasantly surprised, a well appointed and inviting building that looked the part for a village in the countryside. There is always a bit of apprehension when you walk into a ‘locals’ pub but any apprehension was misplaced in this case as we were made to feel extremely welcome. It was quite busy but with a nice atmosphere and we were greeted with a smile by the barmaid who made us feel very at ease while we ordered drinks and enquired about the possibility of food. Throughout our time there we were chatted to by several people, all of whom obviously spotted we were visiting the village. Amazingly the kitchen is open until late and the menu had a massive selection, all the pub classics plus sandwiches, jacket potatoes and there was even a daily specials board. The portions were big and the food of a good quality, which was amazing considering how reasonably priced everything was. Who we assume was the landlord kept checking on us and was really pleasant throughout. There are a lot of pubs that could learn a lot from the Red Lion, good food, good drink, good service and a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. We can’t wait to go back, and next time we might even stay there as we now know whey have B&B rooms there!
We just spent a fabulous week at the Red Lion Inn in Breachwood Green, a small village near Luton Airport but definitely in the countryside. A great place with gently rolling hills and narrow country lanes, great for bicycles. The new rooms were immaculate, roomy and very comfortable with lots of amenities, topped only by the tasty food in the pub and the warm hospitality of the staff, especially the two Davids and their dog Billy. We were helped to find interesting places to visit in the area and there is a bus stop right across the street. Highly recommended!
