Hitchin Priory - North Hertfordshire

I stay here every week for business meetings. The breakfast options have improved and there are now sandwiches available for lunch (I used to have to go into town for lunch). The restaurant also offers a better selection of dinner options.

I had a disappointing and frustrating experience at this restaurant. The service was very slow, especially considering we were a large party celebrating two birthdays. It took 50 minutes from when we were seated to receive any drinks, and then another 15 minutes for sandwiches to arrive. The vegetarian dietary requirements I had mentioned in an email seemed to cause confusion in the kitchen, resulting in bland veggie sandwiches of shredded carrot and lettuce. There was little effort put into making them appealing or interesting. While the scones and desserts were tasty and overall the price was reasonable, the lack of care in providing vegetarian options has discouraged me from returning.

The restaurant has not been upgraded in years. It looks old and worn out, and is not a pleasant place to dine. The WiFi is complimentary, but extremely sluggish. If I were staying for more than two nights, I would have switched to a different restaurant.

Stayed here for a night recently. The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable. My visit was short!

We attended a Wedding at this venue and enjoyed the celebrations in a marquee in the grounds. It was the perfect setting for such an occasion.
