Contribuiți la feedbackWe have visited the tea room multiple times in the past. This past Saturday afternoon around 3:45pm, we went there and chose a table to order some food. We ordered an afternoon tea for 2 adults and a child around 3:50pm, but were told that they had stopped taking orders at 3:30pm. We were surprised by this, especially since they are open until 5:00pm. We left the tea room disappointed and found another place on our way home that was able to serve us a very nice afternoon tea. Overall, we were able to salvage our tea experience despite the initial setback at the first tea room.
However, I was a bit disappointed with the food and drink selection. The jam with my scone was delicious, as was the clotted cream. But, some items on the menu were not available, such as wraps (which were advertised) and chicken (only turkey was offered). The turkey provided was thinly sliced and from a commercial brand. They also did not have any cold drinks in the fridge, like ice or coke. The people working there were very kind, and I believe just a few adjustments could make this café a perfect spot to meet up. It's worth noting that they do not accept card payments. Overall, I would like to return to this café, but I think some changes would greatly improve the experience.
The restaurant offers a great variety of sandwiches, scones, and cakes. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I would definitely return to this place. It would make a perfect birthday treat for someone special.
We have visited this place many times and it never fails . The place is very well decorated and staff always happy and friendly . Good choice of drinks and cakes to choose from and always nice , good value for the afternoon tea . We visited last week and had the vegetable soup , was the best soup I have ever tasted so will definitely have again . Highly recommend this place
I visited before twice and was impressed by the delicious food, high quality service and historic feel in the cafe. My last visit was disappointing, in the past it has always been table service but this time we had to queue up with our menus to order at the bar like we were in a chain pub not a cafe. Our food arrived quickly but seemed rushed and not as good as last time. I ordered Welsh rarebit but a plate of cold toast with a small pot of lumpy cheese sauce was at the side. Felt let down as I was hungry and could have made this at home for half the price. The waiter was a youngish boy who wasn't sure how to deal with customers expressing their opinions and he replied in a huffy teenage fashion. Hope this place remembers what it was like when it first opened because over time it seems to be losing its friendly atmosphere and charm
