Cuban Gypsy Pantry North Charleston

Great atmosphere! Love the Cuban sandwich! Please try one if you have not done so.

The food was good but the service was a bit sketchy. Apparently they are in between closing for a few weeks and then...maybe not...EXACTLY!! Smh. They were out of a lot of things including juice and straws. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and green fries. My fries were cold and the sandwich was lukewarm. The server readily replaced the fries with warmer fries when I told her they were cold. The shrimp ceviche was interesting. It was more like salad less like ceviche (at least what I am accustomed to, which is the Caribbean version). The portion size was large, so I took half home (save the ceviche) and reheated for lunch the next day. It was even better, I guess because it was heated throughout, and not like warm.

The website indicates that the restaurant is open, but it appears to be closed and looks like it has been abandoned. I'm not sure what's happening. I've heard positive things about it, so I hope this situation is only temporary!

It seems like this restaurant has either closed down or is very close to shutting its doors. I’ve tried to visit three times over the past month, and each time it’s been closed. There haven't been any updates on Yelp, Facebook, or Google. What’s going on?

Are they closed for renovations or permanently? I tried calling yesterday, but neither the North Charleston nor Summerville locations were reachable on the phone tree. North Charleston said the line was not in service, and there wasn’t any dial tone when I selected Summerville. So I decided to check out the North Charleston location, and I noticed the entire strip mall is getting a facelift. Inside CGP, it looked dusty, but I couldn't figure out if that was just temporary or if they've shut down for good. Does anyone have any information? I love their food!
