Charleston Caribbean Creole Takeout And Food Truck

I ordered through a delivery service and was disappointed to receive only 2 oxtails in the oxtail meal. Additionally, the food was overly salty. The portion size did not justify the high price. I do not recommend this restaurant.

I make an effort to support black-owned businesses like this one. The chicken was a bit overcooked and the taste was okay. I might try the shrimp next time if I decide to come back. Keep up the good work!

I absolutely love the J Chicken bowl at this restaurant. It has just the right amount of spice, which is not common at most Caribbean restaurants in Charleston. The plantains are cooked perfectly. This is actually my second time ordering from here. I also ordered the crab and shrimp rice, but I haven't tried it yet because I am still full from the J Chicken bowl. I will update my review on the crab and shrimp rice later, but for now, I highly recommend this place.

Great portions for the price! Unfortunately I had to give 2 for flavor and tenderness of the oxtails.

Food was very average. Chicken tasted burnt and the sweet potato fries were pretty bland. Tacos were fairly good though so I’d get those again if I hadn’t been treated so poorly. The guy in the truck was a j I asked him what’s good and he said “whatever you like”. Okay, fair enough. But then I asked him what something was on the menu and he literally told me “just read”. It didn’t explain what it was on the menu so that really didn’t help. He made me feel really stupid for asking questions about a type of food I’d never had before. Needless to say, we won’t be going back due to the customer service alone. I really don’t appreciate being talked down to.
