Contribuiți la feedbackThe food is very good. I was incredibly impressed by the service and overall quality of the food. The ambiance is weird. It is almost like a food court in how it's set up. Regardless, the food we got was incredible and they were very attentive to us when we went. Their gyoza is fantastic and their sashimi just melts in your mouth.
I have been here a couple times and found their sushi very fresh. That they often have delicious Uni is a plus. The only gripe I have is that the sashimi cuts come more as chunks than thin slices but that's a stylistic thing.
I went to patroize OMA Sushi Oyster Bar located in The Block Food Hall in Bethesda MD.I ordered the Lovers Roll and a Pork Gyoza there was an Asian lady on the register and ignored me because she was on a call on speaker till finally I said are you going to take my order? Finally she took my order but rung in the wrong item I advised her maybe if you weren’t on the phone you would have heard me the first time and keyed it in correctly.I waited for my food to come out and when it did a cook from the back had his bare hands NO GLOVES ON touching my Pork Gyoza dumplings. The Sushi was covered but I noticed afterwards when I went back to take my empty food tray that the sushi guy making the sushi didn’t have on any gloves either. The world we live in this is very unsanitary to say the least. Me being a Chef hates to see the lack of integrity for food and professional.I asked her to take them off she offered to remake it but at this point I just didn’t trust it because he seemed very comfortable handling the food with no gloves the way he did. She gave me a full refund.I probably won’t go back because every food stall is Asian with the exception of Little Miner Taco and all the Asian outlets all use ONE KITCHEN! So didn’t leave a good taste in my mouth to go back seeing this first hand.
Sushi Oma is a booth in The Block at Pike Rose. The staff were friendly, the sushi was good. Too much waste with all the packaging, as there was no dine-in option. The vibe of the place is young/party...too much for my middle-aged self. I would eat the sushi again, but I would not go back to The Block by choice. There are many other good sushi spots.
I'm not quite sure what the hype is. Sure the sushi is good but it's not great. It's sit down restaurant quality prices but a little bit better than take out. There want anything distinctive in terms of quality, taste, or style. They have skewers but that's really easy to find in Japanese restaurants nowadays. Good but not great.
