Contribuiți la feedbackThis restaurant is terrible. The food was terrible and tasteless. My two friends mentioned that their meals were cold but didn't want to complain. The restaurant was empty and the servers, who were children, had no idea about basic service. We will not be returning and will stick to the Hydro from now on.
I made a reservation for Sunday lunch for my wife and me, along with two friends who were visiting from London. Unfortunately, our experience at the restaurant was a complete disaster. We waited for over half an hour at our table before someone finally came to take our drink and meal orders, only after I had to get up and call a server over. When our main courses were finished, our table was cleared except for my wife's empty plate. The waiter said he would return to collect it and provide dessert menus, but no one came back. It wasn't until I spoke to a staff member at the bar that we were finally able to order dessert. The restaurant staff seemed to be inexperienced teenagers who were unsupervised and more interested in hanging out at the bar than attending to the tables. This type of customer service is unacceptable, and leaving unsupervised teenagers to serve diners is not a good way to encourage repeat business. Because of this unpleasant dining experience, especially in front of our friends, we will not be returning to Seamill House the next time they visit. Instead, we will be dining at the Hydro, where the staff is trained and supervised, and have a better understanding of what customer service should be.
What a disappointment. Having read great reviews we booked here as a special occasion for the last night of our holiday. The staff were very young and appeared either untrained or uninterested. Painfully slow service and staff huddled around bar chatting on phones. Our white wine was put on the table in an ice bucket without it even being shown to us, then the waiter walked off. We realised why when it was warm and straight off the shelf. The bottle hadn’t even been opened. It took so long getting anyone’s attention I frankly couldnt be bothered waiting for another bottle to be chilled. As husband was driving, we had told the waiter we’d buy a bottle take the remainder home for later. We took bottle away after paying for meal, and were embarrassingly stopped at the hotel door by staff who told us we couldnt leave with the wine as the hotel didnt have a licence for this! Our food was lovely though the whole experience spoiled by lack of service.
Have been to this restaurant a few times when visiting the area. The view of the sea is amazing and the furnishings are very nice. I have given an average rating as my visits have ranged from outstanding to very poor. The food is usually good. The lunch menu in particular is superb with an amazing choice you can have anything from a sandwich to a full meal. However it is the service which can let things down. It seems to be mainly students who work there. Some of them are exceptional and do an amazing job but others do not appear to have any training whatsoever. So be prepared that you may have a long wait and poor service even if the restaurant is quiet. Or you may have excellent service, good food and a lovely view! It really is a hit or a miss!
From the outside this place looks like a business hotel, but on the first floor it offers a good restaurant with a view on the sea and Arran Island. The food is excellent, service efficient and prices moderate. So, recommended!
