Dalgarven House - North Ayrshire

This well-known restaurant and wedding venue has unexpectedly closed its doors, leaving many young couples and others scrambling to find new venues with little time to spare.

This meal was utterly diabolical, my expectations were not set for a Michelin star meal by no means, just a normal Christmas dinner. Where do we start our meal cost for our family excess of £350, £45 a head which had to be paid in full before the end of November( now I know why) because you just would have walked out without paying ! The table setting and place was lovely but that’s where the good ended. As we sat to order our choice off the menu we were told the roast beef of the main dinner was sold out, considering we were here at early lunch time, shocking!!! My starter was no more than two soggy oat cakes and pate with a sparingly touch of flavourless salad. The soup which to our knowledge we were lucky to even have that offered, as we heard other people complaining as they tried to order it and they had run out of it, who even runs out of soup !! The turkey dinner was nothing more than a cheap Iceland bit of imitation meat, veg tasted out a tin, nothing was homemade here,. The deserts were even more appalling, An over dinged chocolate fudge cake with a teaspoon of ice cream I swear I’ve never seen such a small piece of ice cream served first time in my life I’ve never been able to eat my dessert, it was dry/burnt/ disappointing!! ,, We waited over half an hour for a glass of wine to be served, they had no orange juice, they clearly should never have been allowed to serve a Christmas meal and charge £45 for the experience. I have never written a bad review of a place because you can always see something good , I’ve always felt people sometimes are over dramatic and fussy, believe me there is not one good review you will read about this day from any of its customers because all we overheard was complaints. I urge you to consider again before booking here. It was no more that a ding dinner that wasn’t pleasant at all.

A group of us went here for a meal and although you cant fault the setting or the price our meal was lacking in the wow factor. We were only table in the restaurant, with apparently only 1 server it didnt detract from the setting as restaurant is beautiful with lovely plush,comfy seats and amazing chandelier. All the drinks came out quickly except mine as they had to try and source fresh orange? Menu had a good selection and you could choose between festive or normal menu,with most of us opting for festive. Our starters came out quickly enough but have to say presentation was poor although very tasty. It took our main course a wee while to come out and 3 of us had to send them back as they were barely tepid,this could have been partly due to plates being cold,not good. Deserts were ok but nothing spectacular. As i said price is great at 3 courses for £15 but more attention to detail required. Dont think i will be back anytime soon im afraid

My family and I went out for dinner last night, but unfortunately had to leave without eating due to dietary restrictions. I was limited to a goats cheese salad or veggie fajitas without the wraps, but when I asked for rice or boiled potatoes as a substitute, I was told they didn't have any and could only offer mashed potatoes (precooked and heated up upon ordering). The staff offered to have the chef come out and discuss alternatives, but she refused. We ended up canceling our order and getting Chinese food instead. We are now waiting for a call from management as we have a gift voucher that we couldn't use. The menu online did not match what was available in the restaurant, and management was not present during our visit. The waiting staff did their best under the circumstances.

5th November we had a few drinks on the bar. Staff were lovely and helpful they were chatty and made you feel at home. It's 1st iv been in since the new owners took over and the renovations. I booked for Christmas lunch which we are looking forward to. I would recomend The Dalgarvan Such nice relaxing place.
