Just found out my favorite Chinese restaurant is closing September 16 this yr. My heart is saddened we have been going to this restaurant for the past 40 years. And they by far have the best Chinese food in the area. Since the pandemic the restaurant has been closed to eat in so we just take out to get our fix of Chinese food. What are we going to do now. I knew this day was coming but i didn’t think it would be so soon. I am going to miss everyone that worked there they all knew us and every time we went in there they ask how are the kids since we always took the kids and then the grandkids every special occasion each yr the long table by the door was ours. To fit all 3 boys and their wives and the 7 grand kids. I am happy for all that worked at the restaurant they deserve to retire. But what are we going to do now. Maybe some of the family will open up a takeout location so we can still get the great food. So sad but congratulations to everyone there.
Golden Dragon's been a staple of Norristown for decades
The food was overly salty; it tasted like poison. I ordered the general chicken, and it was a definite disappointment—just overwhelming saltiness. The cabbage in the egg roll was rotten, smelly, and discolored. It was simply unpleasant. On a positive note, the rice was good, and the staff member I interacted with was very nice.
I found the rice to be excessively salty—more than the sea, in fact—and it looked like it had been sitting there for a week. The shrimp was not only salty but also overcooked. When I ordered cheese steak rolls, the server mistakenly put pizza rolls in the bag, and I didn't realize it until I got home. The grease was a real issue; you could smell how old it was. Clearly, the fryer needs a thorough cleaning and the grease should be changed. I spent $33, and I usually research reviews before ordering takeout, but I really messed up this time. I feel disgusted; even after throwing the food away and washing my hands, I can still smell it. Can you imagine what the kitchen must be like? I asked the staff if they had fresh chicken, and they just pointed to some chicken sitting in a metal bin that had clearly been there for a while. I hate to speak negatively about food like this, but this was by far the worst experience I've had.
