Mandarin Garden House - Normal

I absolutely love this restaurant! Whenever our children are home, it's always their top choice for food. My wife and I order takeout from here every week because it's consistently delicious. If I could give more stars, I definitely would!

The food quality was fairly typical. The service was efficient when it came to receiving our order. However, their prices have changed, and there's no way to find out what they are unless you ask, as they don't provide a printed menu and the online version is outdated. As a result, our bill ended up being about 20% more than we anticipated.

I wish I could give this restaurant 4 or 5 stars because there were some wonderful aspects to my experience. However, parts of last night’s carry-out dinner were quite disappointing. We began with the sizzling rice soup, which had a delightful flavor that was perfect for a cold winter evening. The Mongolian beef and sweet and sour shrimp were fantastic and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the egg rolls were unworthy of any praise. They were significantly smaller than ones we’ve had elsewhere, and the filling had a texture that reminded me of cat food, with nothing recognizable inside. The wontons were just tiny bits wrapped in fried wonton skins, which also didn’t impress me at all. Overall, these items really brought down my rating.

I ordered carry out because that is the only thing they offer. I haven't had Mandarin Garden for quite a awhile and was pretty excited for it. I went in to get my order and as they read my order back to me it was incorrect. I asked if I could please havethe pot stickers, instead of the wontons, now mind you, I don't know if it was my fault, maybe I ordered the wrong thing when Icalled, or it could have been theirs, I don't know. Either way, what I think was the owner came out to berate me along with thepoor kid at the cash register. It was really uncomfortable. I mean it was a mistake regardless of who made it, I didn't mindwaiting a few more minutes for the pot stickers, but it really must have angered her that I wanted something different. I wasn'tasking for my whole order to be redone, just potstickers instead of wontons. I literally drove from the other end of town tocome get this order. I don't think I was unpleasant or rude at all. I was actually quite apologetic. I ordered $60.00 worth offood, and when I got home we had one container of rice for three meals and the meal containers were half full. I will say, whatwe did get was good, but my god! it was a terrible experience!!!!

Best Mongolian Beef and very good egg rolls but unfortunately it's currently carry out only,if you don't live in the area, it really sucks! People need to apply for a serving job because that's the hold up on why indoor dining has not started back up!????
