Volcano Sushi Asian Bistro - Norfolk

Everything about this place is fantastic! The wait time was reasonable, and the service was excellent. Food items arrived quickly without any lengthy delays. Plus, the entire menu features all-you-can-eat options! The prices were definitely fair as well. Overall, I would rate the food a perfect 5/5!

My husband and I visited on a busy Sunday and had to park in the back lot before walking to the front. Unfortunately, the greeting we received was lacking a smile, and our waitress seemed unhappy and barely spoke. The overall atmosphere felt off, and it seemed like the staff didn’t want to be there. I felt uncomfortable asking our waitress for another round, as she acted like it was an inconvenience. When I pointed out that she had missed one of my orders, she didn’t apologize, and she didn’t thank us when we left, even though we left a generous tip. The food was mediocre; the sushi was dry, but the shrimp yakisoba was quite good. However, the portion sizes were quite large, and as someone who tends to clean my plate, I ended up feeling overly full and couldn’t try everything I wanted. Overall, I don’t think I would want to return.

Despite being an all-you-can-eat establishment, the food quality is impressive and there are plenty of choices available. Parking can be a challenge since they don’t have a dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to find street parking. It's advisable to consider carpooling or using Uber to get there. The restaurant does offer delivery through Uber Eats, but prices are higher for individual orders compared to dining in. For those who are vegetarian, there are options available, including veggie-only rolls, appetizers, and entrees as part of the all-you-can-eat menu.

Do not go here during dinner. The service is much better during lunch. However, that is still a hit or miss option. There is a white server there during dinner with a tattoo on his neck. He is very nice. He saw a fly on a surf clam I ordered and told the individual who prepared it that it was there. Pointed it out to him and had him prepare a new one. However when I told the manager about the manager said it was sushi paper. I let the manager know it wasn't sushi paper. Your server pointed out that it was in fact an insect with wings. If anyone does come here just be aware the service and food is never consistent. Which is unfortunate because when it is a good day for them, it is a good day. I won't be returning though.

Food and service was good. I had the all you can eat sushi. Every order came out in 5 to 7 minutes. No lag time. It was well prepared and delicious. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Only issue is I usually over eat, and I did. Sami was hot and tasty. It's a good alternative to my usual place down the street.Food: 4/5
