Food drinks: We only dined, as we were staying just down the road in self-catering accommodation, and the food was good. The cheesecake was very delicately flavoured, I was expecting a bit more of a punch of flavour, but its accompanying apple sorbet was great. We were comped the dessert because we had to wait so long for them, though they weren't mentioned in any way when my husband paid. So maybe they just forgot? I had had to leave earlier to get our baby to bed after eating my half really quickly. Service was much friendlier and more prompt earlier in the evening before it got busy. The burger with brisket was lovely, though I would have preferred the thicker chips my husband had with his fish and chips. He enjoyed his meal and our 4 year old ate all of hers except the skin and batter on the fish, which is praise indeed! The garden area was nice, though we wouldn't have dined out there as there were a few people smoking when I took the baby out for a bit of air

Had a flying lunch, can't comment on the rooms, obviously. Excellent service, a really customer orientated young man, lovely mussels...definitely would be back . We live in north Yorkshire...alas. Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value
