I have dined at this restaurant for the second time now. The first time, the food was excellent. However, on my most recent visit, the restaurant had run out of meat. It's surprising that a restaurant could run out of food.
Upon arriving at the restaurant for our reservation, the hostess informed me that they do not receive notifications for OpenTable reservations. She had to consult with her manager before eventually seating other customers. After waiting for about five minutes, I approached the podium and was told that they could not honor the reservation, which apparently happens frequently with OpenTable. We were placed at the end of the waitlist, which would have meant a 45-minute wait. This has never occurred with any of my other OpenTable reservations, and I will not be returning to Black Horse Tavern.
Fine for a quick meal but nothing special. We were driving through at dinner hour and we found this place on Open Table won't eat here again. Our waitress was very friendly but food was average at best. I had the steak dinner... steak was tough, flavorless and over cooked. My husband had the Philly steak sandwich and it was fine but not great.
This is an awesome little place with a nice bar in the middle for an after work drink or happy hour with friends. The food is great. Their signature hanger steak was cooked perfectly and you'd have to try their mashed potatoes and gravy. Best I've had in some time. The shrimp was my favorite. Its a little over my normal budget but its a lot of food so we split the entre. I would go back again.
