Pizzeria with a stylish industrial design and a large outdoor terrace. Enormous selection of pizza variations plus also a few non-pizza options. The wine list is functional. In a quiet night, the pizza environment is fast. Pizza-Toughballs as an appetite suppressor is a nice...touch, and I could not mistake my inverno, e.g. smoked ham and sheep cheese, on an excellent quality basis with puffy edges. Desserts were, I think, not homemade. Our two very young waitresses were friendly and helpful. An impressive place.
After reading about this restaurant in our local Melbourne newspaper, and on the Internet, after it recently won the Worlds Best Pizza Award, we were determined to find Pizzeria Barsentum as it was written. Here our problem started as Barsentum in Noci is a restaurant for wedding reception. After a few phone calls we finally found it and it was worth the effort. Once you are in Noci, look for the signs for Cantine Barsento, which is about 1 km from the outskirts of the city. GPS coordinates: N 40Grad 46' 48.8 E017Grad 08' 11.3. It is open only on the evenings and bookings only from 8.00 a.m. There is a small menu for pasta and meat dishes and then a huge selection of pizzas listed by categories such as White Pizzas, Classics, Specialities. We started with the antipasto plate to share one at 10 euros, made from marinated shrimps and octopus salad, two types of ham, two hot cheese dishes and deep fried pieces of fish all were delicious and very generous portions. Then we ordered two pizzas, to Asiatica, 7 Euro Gorgonzola cheese and pear) and a classic Barsento 9 Euro eggplant, tomatoes, mozzarella), the thin crust and tasty, but much too much for two people. Staff speak English at different levels of skill and all were extremely friendly and helpful. Wines from the cantine are sold by the glass or bottle. During our visit the white wines had sold out, but the rose 2.5 euros a glass) was a very sufficient substitute. There is also a sweet and dry red, 3.5 euros a glass) and beer. With coffee and two bottles of water came the bill to 46 euros, which we thought was a great value, as the surroundings are first class in style and taste.
We will probably not forget this diner because of its quality and very nice staff. A wine tour was also part of the program. Very recommended!
