We were surprised to arrive and not see the restaurant very busy for a 7:30pm reservation. It got a little busier during the course of our meal. We were definitely impressed by the service and the food. We did the Grand Signature 5 course menu, and we were not disappointed. It was definitely an expensive meal, but worth the experience for sure. The bar next door was a great transition after our meal as well.
My husband and I visited the restaurant during our stay in Nice in July. The restaurant is amazing and beautiful and if you like haute cuisine you must try it. It's a celebration of beauty for your eyes and taste for your tastebuds... we both had chef's surprise menu, all courses very tasty and beautifully presented. The sommelier helped us choose the wine, and it was amazing. It is an experience and really worth every penny. A must visit when in Nice.
If you are looking to dine at a michelin star restaurant, this plac will not dissapoint. We went there on our first nighy at the Hotel Negresco with our young children. The service was very kind. They even made a michelin star plain pasta for my 5 year old. It was cute and thoughtfull of them. The beef fillet was so tasty. My son went cracy for it. It was good food and like most michelin restaurant the ambiance was as expected. I would go back again.
We have had 2 wonderful dinners here before. And again we went for the large menu. The room is lovely and you feel very welcome. A bit different to see that 70% of the guests were chinese, but I am glad that they also support fine cuisine. Prices has gone up quite a bit since the last time 4 years ago, but that we knew. Service was mostly excellent but I wonder about how wise it was to have seemingly only one guy serve all guests. He was all over the place. When serving he recanted the name of the dish from the menu in a very heavy french accent difficult to understand and he didn't offer much more information before he left. Unlike the last time when "our" waiter was a fountain of passionate knowledge. The sommelier was excellent and we both got adapted wine menues to our likings. The food; I am sorry to say was less than inspired this time. Although we in advance had asked for a substitute for the sweetbreads and they had taken note, the result was a bit of a disappointment. They had exchanged the sweetbread with a filet of beef. Perfectly cooked, but it was just that. A piece of beef. The garniture around was uninspired. The turbot was next and fish like that if perfectly cooked should fall apart in its layers when poked. It didn't and was slightly dry. Several of the dishes we thought had lack of inspiration and lacked the little extra we have seen before. And the more than 30 minutes wait for the dessert was way to long. After that wr didn't want coffe, petits fours etc. Paid and left. We had to remind them about the drinks from the bar that should have been transferred to the bill, but wasn't.
Probably, there is no better place to feel the charm of Nice than the restaurant Le Chantecler in the legendary hotel Negresco on the Promenade des Anglais. The furnishings here are truly royal: the walls are decorated with panels of fine woods, luxurious curtains hang on the windows, lamps hang in silk lampshades from the ceiling, and graceful bronze figurines stand on each table. Before the dishes of Le Chantecler, marked by two Michelin stars, it is impossible to resist; Here you understand that food can turn life into a paradise.
