Contribuiți la feedbackWe are four friends on holiday in nizza. Today we wanted to take a lazy refreshment / coffee break from the stroller and enjoy some shade during our explorative walk in the glowing sun. immediately after we had settled on one of the slightly grimy external tables, the owner (which is a very unpleasant looking older man) showed up with two menus in his hands. then he tormented the menus before us. from his demeanor it was obvious that he judged us by our simple tourist-looking clothing and not by the weight of our crypto portfolio. when we tried to order our four coffee and non-alcoholic drinks, he simply said “No”. then he cried out the menus from our hands, turned around and left us in silence. so we stood up and went to le grand cafè de france (about 50 meters) where we were greeted with open poor, friendly smiles and a beautiful terrace. we drank not only coffee and pops, but also had a few beers along with some snacks. we were happy to tap the waiter of le grand cafè over 50% of our bill! sucks on this bistro apèro!
Lionel and valezie welcomed us immediately to our late lunch. my man enjoyed an aperol splash and I had a glass local wein also very good, our ceasar salads were delicious and of course the brot as everywhere in france was wonderful.
The owner of the restaurant was extremely rude. there were four of us (family). when we approached and asked for a table, he asked if he was only for eating or drinking. I answered, eat and preferably out. practically all the tables were empty outside. because it was about 15 o'clock or so (later lunch for us after a day of cleanup). he beat a few tables (the kind of side by side, each for two people). I asked politely whether the one beside them for 4 people was also available. he reacted angry and said what is wrong with those I propose. he then pulled one of the two tables angirily next to the others and said here. (will take it or leave it). we were very tired and hungry and took the tables. the waitress was very polite and seemed new, so made a small mistake in the order that made me nothing (as I was literally speaking in French). later, when we were done, I asked after the check, the waitress took it away righ, but to avoid waiting to pay and avoid going cash money on the table, I went directly to pay the cash. the owner at this time had turned his back couple feet away from the cashier to talk to someone in the kitchen. once again, I tried politely to get his attention to pay the scary. he turned around and said to me, knowing where she is literally behind the register meaning on the wrong side of the register and should not be there what was not true (absolutely not true) I was still on the customer side. he took the money and when I went out after the payment, he made some rude commentary behind my return, thought I didn't understand French. that's the worst experience I had. first a rude recipe, then treat me almost like a thief, and then offensive in French behind me, thinking he is just an American tourist, and would not understand a word I say.
We had an excellent lunchtime cesar salad witha glass of wine. However the address is different. They are situated at the north west corner of Place Massena jut at the start of Rue Massena.
We were walking down the street and came across this tiny restaurant/bar on the corner. I had a burger, my wife had Pasta Carbonara--both were excellent! A bottle of the house wine was also quite good. There was one person (the owner who was very...busy waiting on tables and also preparing the food. The prices were very reasonable--we would go back again.
