When we arrived behind the bar, the “gentleman” said that they had no booking for us and that they were full. he then explained flicking pages in a book that wanted to be completely empty! the restaurant was only half full. he couldn't have been rougher. we were left open and thrown out of the restaurant. I was on the curse when he might think he was making enough money in the night and could not be harassed to fulfill more bookings. his rudeness put a complete damper in our first night in nizza. many thanks that we managed to find for the rest of our trip several beautiful restaurants. in retrospect we wished that we would read all the other negative reviews on travel advisers before we had made our booking. just because they get rave reviews for her to eat, they obviously think that they can be arrogant and rude to her clientele and it's okay. it's not!
I am vegetarian but really wanted to be able to go somewhere French with my carnivore husband. This place was perfect. I had gazpacho and gnocchi, he had smoked salmon with lentils and beef and truffle mash, plus desserts. At €20 each, it was really...good value and drinks were reasonable at €9 for a wine and a beer. We called in on the Friday night and were lucky to get a reservation for the Monday night, our last night in Nicè.
We managed to secure a booking for lunch (3 courses for €20) and were blown away by the service and quality of the food: grilled peach/burrata, panna cotta with lobster bisque, smoked salmon with lentil salad, Gorgonzola gnocchi and desserts were all top notch. Would...highly recommend (and also booking).
A treat fresh produce, cooking, presentation is excellent. Friendly and warm atmosphere Very attractive price.
We were also next to a charming Danish couple, possibly on the same 'Table d'Hote',This was our first visit and well worthwile.Only handicap is that when you are on the 7.30pm sitting, you have to make way for the next lot of happy customers! (At 9pm)Time flies, when the food, the wine, and the company is good.Starter main and dessert, all home-made and delicious, 18 euro menu with choices,and carafe wine as well as an excellent Cotes de Provence.The boss looked after everyone efficiently. Overall a worthwile experience.Merci Philippe !
