Le Gourmand - Newtown

On our last morning in Sydney, I had breakfast with some friends. We tried a variety of croissants and bought macarons and chocolate mousse to enjoy later. Everything was incredibly delicious and fresh, and the gentleman who served us was wonderful. I will definitely stop by on my future trips to Sydney.

I had a croissant with mozzarella and prosciutto, and it was incredibly delicious. My partner tried the almond croissant and said it was the best one they’ve had in years. We also shared a crème brûlée, which was amazing! The coffee was excellent as well. Just ten minutes later, we went back and bought some plain croissants, along with blue cheese, goat cheese, and another almond croissant for breakfast on the road. I really wish this café were in Melbourne!

I miss having coffee in the morning at this charming vegan French terrace whenever I return to Perth. The atmosphere is lovely, and the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. I definitely recommend stopping by! The croissant with mozzarella and prosciutto (plant-based, of course!) blew my mind—it was amazing! (Updated from my previous review on July 3, 2022.)

Still deciding between the croissants here and at oh my days, will need to go to both a couple dozen times to be really sure!

We were in Newtown for a couple of nights and came here both days to pick up some of the amazing vegan pastries. We had the cinnamon and plain croissants, the pan au choc and the cheese croissant- all were excellent! We also couldn’t resist trying the vegan macarons (which were also delicious), chocolate mouse, and buying a selection of deli items (house made salami and mushroom pate and the Delectio blue cheese) which we can’t wait to try. We had also planned to go to La Petite Fauxmagerie next door but unfortunately it was shut as they were at the vegan markets…luckily Le Gourmand stocked some of the vegan cheeses so we could get some from there too!
