Tartufo - NEWTON CENTER

We had a fantastic experience at Tartufo! As locals, we were always intrigued to try their food. It was my birthday and I went with my family. Although we didn't have a reservation, they were able to seat us and gave us exceptional service. The food was delicious, reminiscent of a cozy family restaurant in Italy. The pasta was especially impressive, even for my Italian wife. Thank you, Tartufo, for a memorable evening and for surprising us with a cake and candle without us even having to ask!

The server was satisfactory, but the hostesses were disrespectful; they tried to seat us upstairs, which was empty and being used for napkin folding, despite plenty of space downstairs. The food was subpar, especially considering the high prices and competition in the area. If you enjoy bread that is squished, overly sweet pasta sauce, thin and overcooked grilled swordfish, seafood cioppino with overly salty white fish, expired lobster, and "spicy" sauce that lacks heat, then this place is for you. The prices may suggest freshness, but it is clear that everything is frozen and reheated. Fresh swordfish in Newton should not cost $40 when Boston Harbor is only 20 minutes away. The restaurant looks appealing from the outside, so we decided to give it a try, but we will not be returning. The wine was the only highlight of the meal.

The food at this restaurant is amazing! The Tagliatelle Carbonara had a perfect sauce, and my husband loved his chicken porcini dish. The limoncello mascarpone cake was absolutely delicious. The service was also outstanding.

The food was delicious. Everyone at the party was happy with their meals, portion size, and speed of service. Having the full 2nd-floor room to ourselves allowed us to fully enjoy our time together. A great dining option for a private companydinner...especially since it was found using GOOGLE and no one had been to Tartufo before! We will be back.

Worth the trip! Excellent Italian restaurant in Newton. Delicious food and wine! Service was impeccable. Highly recommend dining at Tartufo! ????
