We all can have off or bad days, this was theirs. I ordered COD and a Pastie. The little place looked clean and well staffed with 4 behind counter and one only other customer at lunchtime! I waited 15 mins for my order cooked from fresh! The Pastor tasted like no other I've ate in my sixty years and the small fish £4.95) was defiantly not COD! It was grey dry and tasted strong, not White and creamy rich tasting! The few chips served were cold and wooden! Bad tasting and badly cooked fish, as bad as I've ever had. I won't risk Silverfin again! Next time your in Belfast, treat yourself, try John Longs traditional Chippy off Durham St and learn what great fish and chips should be!
Bought a small bag of chips here. Turned out to be a huge bag. Excellent chips, crisp and tasty and of course traditional. Slightly marred by someone outside calling me a ***** !
We've been here a number of Tim, and will call in the future. It's over a mile from our house, and well worth the journey. Cod, plaice, smoked cod, can't be beaten anywhere near. But do stay away from the burgers.
Great and fast customer service, delicious cod, fresh chips. Hudge portion! Highly recommended. Definitely will come back.
I had been before a couple of times and this time was an improved offering. I ordered a wild haddock on its own. The place was very busy as it was a Saturday night. They have now a few tables and chairs for sit in. Took quite as while for the fish to come. It was priced £4 .25 which is fairish. The young man serving was under pressure from telephone orders and persons coming in and forgot to give me my change. I went to the car to eat it. First impressions were that it was a decent size served on a bed of a few chips. The batter had become soggy very quickly. The chips were hard small squares and not very good. The haddock inside was super fresh and very good. It was hard to judge the batter but it seemed improved from last visited. There was a pool of vinegar in the box. I had not asked for vinegar. I'm a regular at Cafe Fish in Belfast and the Galley in Lisburn and Armagh. This place could learn from them. But to be fair it has improved,is very busy,is very fresh. The young man serving was quite friendly. One big big minus is there is no bins outside to put in empty wrappings.I had to go into the shop to ask for it to be disposed off behind counter. But I still would recommend. it.
