Schlesinger's Steakhouse - Newport News

Really good food. Service was friendly and tentative. Nice, calm atmosphere. It is a quality steakhouse, so be prepared to drop a little bit of dough. Definitely recommend. My wife and I will be going again.

This was my wife and I first time and they really made us feel special on our Anniversary day!!

Bring your own seasoning. Our steaks were cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning…same for the vegetables. Overall we liked our food but we didn’t feel like Schlesinger’s lived up to the hype. We were sat in a side room off the main dining area. The tables seemed close but didn’t feel cramped. We saw people dressed up in cocktail dresses, and other people in jeans and a hoodie. The decor isn’t super upscale. Jeans and a nice top would work. The service was ok. We had a great experience with one of the waitresses that brought our steaks, however our main waitress spilled our drink but didn’t replace it lol. I don’t think we’ll be returning to Schlesinger’s. It was decent but definitely not worth the price. For our steaks, sides, dessert and drinks we paid about $300 including tip.

Even though we did not have a reservation, we got seated in the bar room right away. Our server, Tim, was great. The appetizer, Shrimp with some type of Asian sauce, was delicious. I ordered the Crab cakes which were okay. My husband ordered shrimp stuffed with crab. When we saw his order arrive, we could not believe there were only four very small shrimp on the plate. Each shrimp was so small, it could not have had more than half a teaspoon of crabmeat in it. So, at the cost of $45, each small shrimp was almost $10! He did get a side dish with this and I gave him one of my crab cakes to satisfy him. My baked sweet potato was the best thing on the table.

This is where you go to get the best drinks and some of the best tasting food in the area! Courtney was fabulous and her recommendations were spot on!
