Contribuiți la feedbackThis is my favorite pizza. I absolutely love it. I will say it is crazy over priced. I ordered a family sized Cesar salad for 3 people for $16.95. It is meant to feed 6 people but it was so small. I get really bothered when ish is overpriced and they cheap out. The cheeze pizza is good tho.
I've had pizza in New York many times, and while I think Johnny's crust shape, thickness, and taste is more California style than authentic New York, they make pretty darn good pizza here! I especially like that you can buy their pizza by the slice or by the pie; too many pizza places in California insist on serving pies only : On my first visit, I was pleased to note that the restaurant was clean and the cashier was both engaging and friendly. On the downside, the prices here are a lot more Newport Beach than NYC, but I suppose. The prices not withstanding, combine their solid pizza by the slice quality with the fact that Johnny's serves Perroni on draft and I think it's safe to say that I look forward to becoming a regular :
As New Yorkers we liked the pizza and have been loyal customers for years, but I'm done ordering from them. Pizza was delivered to the wrong house and it took them 18 calls and 3 hours to replace the order. We had 13 kids that we're waiting for their dinner
Let start this off that there are far too many places out here that like to claim they 're a real New York Pizza. I 'm surprised no one has opened up a place called Gino Spaghetti 's Absolutely Positively New York Pizza . Every time a place has to claim they 're real NY pizza you will be disappointed. In fact if a place has claims they 're real NY pizza that should be your red flag. Real NYC pizzerias don 't call themselves real pizzerias . (Although a lot of them will call themselves 'Ray 's Famous Original ' but that 's a whole other story) That being said the place does have a real NY feel and authenticity when you walk in. The pizza is okay but let 's be honest here, it 's not real NYC pizza, The crust is much thinner then the typical NY slice more like a flatbread consistency but each slice is a good size. I will point out that there 's a chain in NYC called Two Boots that was all about the thin crust pizza so I suppose if they called it Johnny 's Real New York Pizza if you call Two Boots 's Thin Crust Real New York Pizza then yes it could be considered real New York pizza . But to consider it comparable to a New York pizza slice ? Fuhgeddaboudit!
Honestly this place is way overpriced and the quality of the pizza seems to have gone downhill. Ordered two pizzas and a salad last week for a whopping $65. The only thing that stands out is their salad which is also quite expensive. 3 stars seems generous. I would pass given all the other options available.
