Blackie's By The Sea - Newport Beach

Simply the best bar on the beach! It is a local slope out because it has the best location and it is not at all pretentious or stuffy; just a great place to go with friends and play some pool! You can dress up to the 9s or just in a pair of jeans and feel relaxed and carefree.

Love this bar, coldest good people, lots of tvs watching my hockey etc. many reasons why it is still there after 80 years!! What is better than Havin beers on the beach enjoy sun people watching.

From Illinois, it was only once in 2002 at Blackie. My uncle (Butch Ditmer) was there regularly. To his honor to meet his great friends. Loved this place had a great time! The place was very quiet when I decided to sit down. Without a hint, it seems that the chair on which I have stabbed my ass was his personal chair. Never before saw so many faces fall simultaneously! Will definitely return if ever again in the area.

My all time favorite hangout spot when in Newport Beach. Blackies is the only reason I return to California every year. For me it's a destination. I have a sock full of chips I need to cash in one day. I actually found this place back around 1980 just before entering into the Army.
