La Vecina - Newport

Very friendly and attentive service. The manager even surprised us with a dessert on the house since it was our first time there, very nice. Loved the rustic combined with eclectic atmosphere also.

This was our first visit. The nachos and salsa were very good. The guacamole was a little salty. We had enchiladas and the taco plate(3 tacos). The enchiladas were good. The corn shells were homemade and sturdy. The tacos were just okay. The corn taco shells were sturdy so they did not fall apart. The sweet potato one had way too much sauce which overwhelmed the very small pieces of sweet potato, the pork one was very dry and over salty and the short rib one was bland. The manager Raul was very friendly, asked how our meal was, if we had been there before, etc. It's a fun little restaurant and it was very busy.

We came here for first anniversary drinks and I knew we had to come back for my birthday. All the food and drink was so good, I love the creativity and fresh ingredients. The service for my birthday was above and beyond! I especially liked getting a card signed by the staff rather than having them sing to me. This restaurant is definitely a top choice for us in the future! Already looking forward to our next meal here

Came in for lunch on a Friday. Was eager to check out as I enjoy many of the Newport Restaurant Group offerings. Hemingways and The Mooring have been go tos for awhile. We even got Thanksgiving prepared meals from Iron Works this year and it was exactly what I needed for my guests. Anyway, the place is very fun to step into, giant murals and a long bar with a lot of bottle choices and fun little items. Under the bar there's a lot of plugs with charging ports for phones, small but thoughtful touch. The person who greeted us was also our server and she was very friendly and helpful, service was great. The chips and guacamole were a perfect start and the drinks were good also. “A heavy pour” according to my wife, but that's a great thing in my book. Tried 4 different drinks between us and all tasty. Where it came off the rails a bit was the mains. We each did three different tacos with rice and beans. Let me say-The sweat potato one is amazing. Smoky, a hint of sweetness, just wow. Unfortunately the other ones were only “ok” descending to one being just awful. I only order fish on weekends to be fair to the restaurants, making sure their order is probably freshest. The fish taco was so fishy it was unpleasant. It was small (as it should have been) so I finished it, but I probably shouldn't have. In Summation-nice looking place, service and drinks, but the tacos were not great excepting the sweet potato. Not what you want in a taco place. The reviews are great so will try and give it another go to be fair, but not rushing back when the other offerings are so much better so far.

Food was very good! Service was quick, and the waitress was on top of everything. Price was affordable for 6 people dining out. Will definitely be back! Their drink cups are hilarious! They have the chefs faces on them, definitely got a kick out of it!!
