Asa-Don - Newcastle

If I had more than 3 thumbs to give a thumbs up, I would. This place truly deserves all the love it receives. It's not just about the delicious and consistent food, but also the warm memories it brings. While visiting Newcastle for a few days in the winter, I found comfort in this restaurant and it will definitely be a place I will return to. The staff were energetic, patient, and welcoming, always serving with a smile. Among the menu items I tried, the curry omu rice was a standout. I was grateful to dine with a kind family I had just met, who made me feel less lonely as a newcomer in the area. Asadon was truly a welcoming oasis in a place where everything seemed to close early. For those looking to experience authentic Japanese home cooking served by friendly staff, I highly recommend Asadon. Just make sure to call ahead to check for available seating or takeout, as this place tends to be popular.

This is our favorite restaurant in Newcastle. It serves the best Japanese food I've had in Australia. However, BYO (Bring Your Own) was better before.

The food was deliciously flavored and beautifully presented. The service was attentive and friendly. The Gyoza was absolutely amazing.

So glad to have finally been to dine here! Two Thursdays in a row, my partner and I have gone there for our date night. Highly recommend anything tempura, yum yum yum! Can't wait to return.
